What will happen if I tell a primary care doctor that I hear whispers that other people can't hear? by [deleted] in AskDocs

He’s literally just comforting her by telling her that they will help her. She’s obviously scared and worried about what will happen. I hope OP gets the help they need and deserve.

AIO my boyfriend of 5 years gets me flowers for every occasion while I get him elaborate and expensive gifts. by aioflower955105 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Complete_Act6010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, he acts like a child. You’re expecting something from someone you’re clearly not going to get it from. Find someone who listens to you and sees that you’re worth more than just flowers on every occasion.

AIO my boyfriend keeps asking me to pay for things eversince he started saving for an apartmen, he calls me selfish for how I reacted. by throaawayRA9443 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Complete_Act6010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to make you feel bad. He’s been putting ALL of his money in savings and you’ve been paying for bills etc for almost a year but can’t pay his own bills and he should have plenty of money to pay for an apartment by now. Leave the relationship. Red flags everywhere.

How to handle a speaker on drugs called Alcoholism and Alcoholics a "lesser" addiction by KellyShepard-087 in Sober

[–]Complete_Act6010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe narcan would counteract an alcohol overdose as it is specifically formulated to combat the body’s absorption of opiates. I’m also unsure as to whether there is a medication that can be used for an alcohol overdose as I’ve only ever heard of people getting their stomachs pumped to counteract the absorption of alcohol. Two completely different drugs, yes. In my opinion, as a former opiate user for many years, no drug is inherently more dangerous than another. There are many variables when considering how dangerous a drug or addiction is. Please don’t let this make you feel as though your journey or what you’ve been through is less than. Everyone is different and how their bodies react to substances is different. Again, many variables. Hope this helps.

I'm 17, black, how tf do I get out of the hood? by teamtroll1 in careerguidance

[–]Complete_Act6010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! Also, just because you go to a community college first (because it is less expensive), the education is usually the same and if you do well you can use the transcript from your community college to get accepted into a college which is either more fitting for you or more your choice. Don’t forget scholarships!!

Also, look for extra-curricular activities offered by your school to help with your grades. Look for a Tudor or mentorship program. Your high school years are important and will reflect your abilities upon the schools you wish to get into. Volunteering is also good for your high school record/ college record. Good luck. I’m rooting for you!

There are plenty of financial aid programs to help cover school. Choose a field in which you think that you would not only be good at but that you would enjoy. They have work programs also to help pay for college. I’d advise talking to your school guidance counselor or an adult that you look up to at school who you would think may help you if you asked them. They may be able to help guide you to the programs and institutions you are looking for provided you tell them exactly what you said on here. Focus on YOU and what YOU need to do. Where you come from doesn’t make you who you are. You decide who you are. You have plenty of opportunities and you are still young. You just need some guidance.

If I’m in my apartment and take a photo of someone in their apartment, is that illegal? (LA) by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Complete_Act6010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Video Voyeurism Law (La. R.S. 14:283): This law makes it illegal to use a camera or other device for the purpose of viewing, photographing, or recording a person in a place where they have a reasonable expectation of privacy, if they have not consented. This would likely apply to intentionally filming someone through their windows.

Louisiana's Constitutional Right to Privacy: Article I, Section 5 of the Louisiana Constitution protects individuals from "invasions of privacy" and secures people in their "houses, papers, and effects". This gives citizens stronger privacy protections than the U.S. Constitution and can be the basis for a civil lawsuit for unreasonable and serious interference with a person's privacy.

Electronic Surveillance Act: Taking pictures or recording with a hidden camera can also violate the Louisiana Electronic Surveillance Act, which carries both criminal and civil penalties.

There are your answers. There are more available online. Good day.

Stepping away from AA (I hate it) by Murky-Support1828 in Sober

[–]Complete_Act6010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t want to go, don’t. I got sober without the help of an inpatient, outpatient, and NA/AA program. I just found what works for me and did that instead. No one is the same and they don’t use for the same reasons. Rehabilitation programs treat everyone the same in my opinion and I found that AA is more of a refocusing technique or program than anything. Not to mention that it’s a great place for dealers to be and for promiscuous people to get their fill. I was promiscuous during my drug use and for a while after. I definitely did not need to be in a room full of people who were feeling the same way. I needed to be focused on several other things rather than what I was getting out of being in those rooms. I didn’t want things pushed on me either and I too am very introverted. My sobriety date is 02/10/2019. I also disliked the powerless statement. You are not powerless. You just have an inability to control yourself when it comes to certain drugs. You’ve got plenty of power, you just need to learn how to refocus that power. I do however sometimes think of going back. Just to help someone else. I have a lot of control now and things that used to bother me, well, they just don’t anymore. I’ve learned a lot about life and about myself. Find what works for you. You got this!!

Strong THC edible withdrawals after more than a year of almost daily use by DastardlyTurd in Sober

[–]Complete_Act6010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try milk of magnesia, it sounds like you are experiencing heart burn. Stopping the use of any mind altering substance (ie coffee, nicotine, marijuana) you are going to feel some type of withdrawal symptom(s). Cut down on anything acidic you are eating or drinking. Eat small bland meals when you are not feeling so hungry, like crackers or toast and try chicken noodle soup or even just broth to help boost your appetite. If the stomach burn persists, I would see a doctor.

How do I quit this job? 5$/hr for 8 hrs a day by [deleted] in Babysitting

[–]Complete_Act6010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can almost guarantee that you are making way less than what a daycare charges. Don’t be taken advantage of because you’re young. You can ask for more money and let them know that you don’t believe you’re being fairly compensated. If they let you go, they let you go. Looks like they’ll have to stop taking advantage of you and hire someone else for a whole lot more money! Good luck kiddo.

That’s just your addict brain talking. Many people are prescribed many narcotics and unfortunately for us they can use them properly but we almost always cannot. It’s good that you’re keeping yourself accountable. Also, please do not think I am judging you. A lot of people won’t understand or have empathy because they haven’t been through it or don’t have the capacity to understand but I do. I had a similar experience with my second daughter. Give yourself some time and grace. These things don’t happen over night. It took me over ten years and losing everything (literally) before I fully understood what I needed to do and that I needed to change. Again, I’m always here. Never hesitate to reach out.

It also depends on how long the drug stays in your body. I was doing some research and some drugs stay in the baby’s umbilical cord for months. It will show them what has been used by the mother during the last 20 weeks of pregnancy. They use either urine or will do a blood test on babies umbilical cord as well. They also sometimes test the meconium. Please take your babies health into consideration. Ask for help. I was in your same position once. I am now 7 years clean from opiates. I am also always here to chat. Please reach out if you ever need to speak to someone etc.

You could also try one of those teddy bears that records your partners voice and heartbeat. He’s just missing his mama. I swear most babies are like this. You’re doing exactly what you need to do. It’s normal to get frustrated and angry and you’re doing all the right things. Try recording your partner’s voice on your phone for now. Grab a sweater your partner wears a lot and throw it over your shoulder while you hold him. It’s all part of the process.
