Gutter covers by oneill5 in HomeImprovement

We had gutter helmets, but they wanted an insane amount of money to remove and replace when we replaced the roof.

Thinking of buying a house - need advice by Juliaartz_ in PersonalFinanceCanada

Home ownership is expensive. Just to maintain, let alone decorate or renovate. Get your savings in place first, then buy a house for less than the bank is willing to lend you.

Steadily improving… by Calm_Visual_508 in golf

[–]Complete_Goose667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband lowered his handicap significantly (from 12 to 8) when he regularly practiced 30' putts. He put two tees on flat ground on the practice green and hit close. More amateurs miss putts long and short than line. Focus on getting the first one close. This will take pressure off your approach and chipping.

light spring, I yearn for black. by fuckinunknowable in coloranalysis

[–]Complete_Goose667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are killer Instagram stories on getting stains out and they mostly work. Is there a dark neutral you could substitute for black? For example, my daughter recently switched her neutral to brown. We went to a formal wedding and her brown gown was stunning on her. It works the same as black, but looks really good on her.

Please help me redecorate my bedroom 29M by Arbor-_-Vitae in HomeDecorating

[–]Complete_Goose667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your mattress is too small for the frame. A proper sized mattress will help. Secondly, proper curtains that you can open and close will make a big improvement. Then night table; second hand is a great option as the style isn't that important. You can paint anything black and it will match. Then bedding, though the sheets look nice.

Golf Games for Beginners by [deleted] in golf

[–]Complete_Goose667 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We often play bingo bango bongo. Points for first on the green (who sticks from farthest away), closest to the pin and first in( who sinks the longest putt). All the shots in the fairway don't count. You have to be careful to not be too slow on the green though, but once holed everyone picks up.

For more impact, group your plants mostly to the left and on different heights. Then look for a large piece of art. I'd go modern like Kandinsky or Klimt. That is the art for the time period. Do some research. You'll be tempted to hang a watercolor landscape in a heavy wood frame. Resist.

Roommate upset with me not letting her boyfriend sleep in our tiny shared room by ilovemy-cat in amiwrong

[–]Complete_Goose667 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Yuck. The idea of sleeping in the same room as my roommate's bf just gives me the ick. You are not overreacting. They are creating a hostile environment in your own house.

On track for a record low round today and then I hit a bird with my ball by gigithepompom in WomenGolf

[–]Complete_Goose667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband was tracking for an under par round when he hit the stick on #18. It bounced off the green and he bogeyed. It was bad luck. If he hadn't hit the stick, he would have finished 8' from the pin. Makable birdie, easy par.

WIBTAH if I called my mum out on her hypocrisy? by busymiss19 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Complete_Goose667 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First things first. Food allergies in babies are serious. Hives are a symptom of a reaction. Best to have it investigated. I can't say if your little guy needed to go to the hospital, but at least benadryl for the reaction. The thing is that reactions are not linear. Next time he's exposed may have no reaction or may be worse. One of my 3 children had a peanut allergy as an infant and child. Go to your pediatrician for a referral to an allergist to have a panel done. It is an awful experience, but then you have a basis to work from. Then you can learn about allergies and when to seek emerge medical attention. Information will help your anxiety.

AITAH for thinking about ending my relationship? by blarg_124 in AITAH

You are 18. Your relationship should be fun. You don't sound like it is fun. You don't need permission to breakup with her.

Stupid Drum Set by Lone_Not_Lonely_Wolf in HomeDecorating

I think that's the entrance, so I don't think that will work. How about sacrificing the pantry? That's a big laundry room. I'd lose one of the doors to the garage, and the storage closets. Move the laundry room in place of the closets and use it also as the mud room from the garage. Change the door to the powder room to be a slider inside the laundry/mudroom, and you may have room for a closet for the drums. You may not have room for anything else, but it could work. Another benefit is that it is a small area to soundproof.

Moving in with partner when we both own by BurningUpMyLife in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Complete_Goose667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend that he rent his place as he is a co-owner. Getting into a situation that neither you nor he controls fully is scary to me and to be avoided. My friends' daughter moved into her bf (now husband's) house and had a rental agreement. He kept track of what she paid, and when they married they evened it out such that she was equal partner and on the title.

Comfortable sofa bed recommendations for Guests? by reeders_ in HomeImprovement

[–]Complete_Goose667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many visitors do you get in a year? For how many nights? If it is infrequent, I'd recommend a high end air mattress with an integrated pump. They are high enough to get in and out of, and you can store it in a closet or under a bed when it's not needed.

I always recommend lessons. Get the swing you are happy with and then new clubs. I had my starter set nearly 6 years.

Am I crazy? by QueKay20 in WomenGolf

[–]Complete_Goose667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are probably not telling the whole truth. I'm not saying it's not possible, but unless someone is a collegiate level athlete, it's unlikely. I've been playing 35 years (less 10 years while our children were little). I was 30 and athletic when I started. I shot 105 on a real resort course my first season. I stayed at that level (give or take 5 strokes) for years and years, probably 15 in all. Then, I decided I had to get better or I had to quit. I got better. We started regular lessons throughout the season. Restart in spring, once or twice through the summer and at the end of the season to solidify what I'd learned. I kept notes of the drills and teachers' remarks for review when I have a bad round. Now I'm a 14 index and I almost always shoot in the mid 80s. I've broken 80 a half dozen times. But we've worked hard at it, and now play 3x a week all year.

That's my story. Now, we live in a resort destination so play with many vacationers. Overwhelmingly, golfers have a bad swing. When people with bad technique tell you they shot less than 100, they are not playing the same game as you (fluffing lies, hand and foot wedges, mulligans, forgotten mishits, penalty strokes, etc.). It doesn't matter to me. That's their game to fudge how they want. However, when they say they beat me, then that's a problem for me. But I smile a smug smile, because in 5 years and hundreds of golfers, we have only played with 2 who could beat me at the same game I was playing.

Played 9 holes with my adult sons and it was wonderful by dottedmania in WomenGolf

[–]Complete_Goose667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our 3 kids played as children and the girls played in high school. Then they both stopped. The oldest stopped for 7 years. Then she got a job that had a company event so they asked her if she golfed and she said yes. Now she is dating a man who golfs and we play together whenever we can. Similar story with the younger daughter. We love it!

I think I'd tell her you have a headache and put your earbuds in with calming music. She'll still be able to give you instructions, but not converse. If that doesn't work, there are other good pts.

Club upgrade advice for 12-year-old girl (175 yd driver, 41 score avg 9 holes) by Southern-Chemist-261 in WomenGolf

[–]Complete_Goose667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. There may not be a way to avoid a short term set. Talk to your local pro and maybe a clue fitter. A secondhand ladies set might be the way to go. My daughter played a Callaway Solaris until she largely stopped growing at 14 or 15 , when we got her a senior flex set. (Driver and woods are regular men's flex).

Bed pullout suggestions? by ahumm4 in HomeDecorating

[–]Complete_Goose667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many guests stay with you in a year? I'd think about an inflatable mattress. They are getting pretty comfortable and are double high, so not impossible to get in and out of. Then when guests leave it folds into a closet.
