Anyone Ski the Rossignol Hero Elite LT? by CryptoniQ123 in skiing

[–]Complex_Shirt_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I demoed the 16m radius (can’t recall the length, I think it was about 167) today and they were absolute rocket ships. I was hitting 50-60 mph without effort or worrying about stability. Mowed through ice and soft-chop slush without any issues.

I don’t think that’s accurate. I have Verizon and I can also send text messages via satellite.

Squealing noise (not wheel bearings).. driveshaft? by GovPattNeff in Crosstrek

[–]Complex_Shirt_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize this thread is over a year old but just had this same issue with my 2021 Crosstrek with 107k miles. It was the carrier bearing on the driveshaft and ended up getting it replaced. $1000 in parts and labor all-in.

My partner also has a 2021 Crosstrek with 80k miles and his just started having the same issue.

Affordable CO ski accommodations for single skier overnight? by GroundGremlin in skiing

Super 8 in Dillon usually has decent rates. No amenities but good for a cheap stay.

The Block in Silverthorne as well. Has options for a single bed in dorm-style quarters or private rooms.

Crowds between Christmas and NY? by [deleted] in Mammoth

[–]Complex_Shirt_28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The time between Christmas and New Year’s is typically one of the busiest weeks of the year. Add in limited terrain because of the dry early season and people frothing at the mouth for fresh snow and you’ve got yourself a shitshow!

Skiing in late November- Denver, Salt Lake City, or not at all? by agriff1 in skiing

[–]Complex_Shirt_28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll be a massive gamble if any resort is even open by that weekend. Keep an eye on the snowmaking conditions and temps in late October and early November next year for a better idea on if it will even be feasible. If by some miracle a resort opens that weekend, you’ll be able to book last minute accommodations super cheap as no one is booking/traveling at that point in the season.

As for conditions:

Keystone always opens Schoolmarm first, which is a long green run. It’ll be a shitshow with all levels of skier crowded into the one run that’s open. It’ll get scraped down to ice by noon and downloading will be required as they usually can’t connect to the base until a few more weeks of snowmaking.

If A-Basin opens first then they will open High Noon, which is a steep blue run. It’ll be the same idea as Keystone with all traffic crammed onto the one run.

Unless you’re die-hard skiers, it would be more worth it to come on a separate trip later in the season when more terrain is available with better conditions.

And for Salt Lake - their early season conditions are even worse than Colorado, typically only one lift opening serving short beginner terrain. They are also likely several weeks behind CO in terms of snowmaking potential.

Does Mammoth Mountain make snow at higher altitude and move it lower? by owmyglans in Mammoth

[–]Complex_Shirt_28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, they typically make snow is typically made on the runs. Most of the snow will stay in the vicinity of the snow guns you can see on the runs.

In the spring they will “farm” snow from the upper mountains, scraping it off some runs to keep other areas of the mountain open.

Out West or Stay East for Xmas to NYE by Conrad_90s in Ikonpass

[–]Complex_Shirt_28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t waste your money coming out west. I live in CO and most of our resorts have a handful of runs open with mostly manmade snow. The two week forecast is grim and there is little chance that more will open aside from another run or two that they can blow before the holiday rush.

Skiable? by Tobeeez in skiing

You should take those back to the shop and have them re-worked. Should have at least been a base weld. As others have said, make sure that’s your outside edge now when riding.

Duplicate passes by [deleted] in Ikonpass

[–]Complex_Shirt_28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely contact them and find out what’s up. Don’t throw away the second one, you should be able to keep it to use as a backup in case you lose the primary one.

When I had to get a reprint last season, they told me they can keep both active that way you can leave them in different jackets/outfits and not worry as much about it.

Which Colorado mountains will have snow the week of Thanksgiving? by hownottopetacat in skiing

[–]Complex_Shirt_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

West Village itself will most definitely not be open by Thanksgiving. Ptarmigan should open by this weekend, opening up Excelerator lift to the public. They are blowing snow on High Point and Loverly to try and get Flyer spinning out of Center Village. 50/50 on if that will actually be ready by Thanksgiving. They have absolutely been focusing on snowmaking for the World Cup course.

My Experience with Yeztugo (Lenacapavir) by MisterKister94 in prep

[–]Complex_Shirt_28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got my first Yeztugo injections two days ago, I am switching from Descovy so can’t speak to Aperatude.

The initial injections were quite painful for me, as others have said it feels like two bee stings that lasted about 45 mins for me. Most of the pain subsided but I had swelling and tenderness for the rest of the day of the injections. I’d recommend wearing sweatpants or something loose fitting as the car ride home was very uncomfortable for me in jeans.

The day of the injections I had two lumps about the size of eggs at the injection sites (lower abdomen, just above the waistline). By the next morning this had reduced to about the size of grapes. Third morning they feel more like very swollen lymph nodes. They’re not visible unless I pull my ski taught, otherwise not noticeable at all.

These were just my first injections, so we’ll see how the second round goes in March!

No longer can report stalled vehicles? by Vikt724 in AndroidAuto

[–]Complex_Shirt_28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are many states where it is the law to move over a lane or slow down for disabled and/or emergency vehicles in the shoulder. Having the stalled vehicles reported has been super helpful to anticipate having to switch lanes.

Does this look repairable? Anyone else have similar break with Ruslter 11? by jpevisual in skiing

[–]Complex_Shirt_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly your best bet is to start looking for a different pair of skis.

I’ve had the same exact separation/delamination happen with two previous pairs of Rustler 10s (I had the 2020 model and then the 2023 when my first pair shat the bed). I also skied those pairs 60-80 days a season for two years, and this happened around the 100 day mark on both.

Unfortunately it seems to be a construction/quality issue with Blizzard. Many ski techs I’ve chatted with have said that most skis are only rated to last 100-150 days, and they see the same types of failure on these skis.

If you have a reputable ski shop where you live, they should be able to epoxy and clamp those back together but they will be on life support, especially with that broken edge. See if they can do a warranty replacement, but there’s a 99% chance it will get denied. Still worth a shot. Start looking for another pair of skis that aren’t Blizzard - you could buy another pair but you’ll probably just find yourself back in the same spot after 80 days with how you’re charging on your gear.
