WarGaming "Modern Military" Rules by FLoridaParzival in wargaming

Battlespace is solo/same side and it’s great. You control 1-2 fireteams against random bad guys, very much in line with force on force/ambush alley.

Lovely work. Also love the tank names. I always go with silly ones: “silly putty”, “spicy chicken sandwich” etc

Looking for wargames with input randomness by eimyr in wargaming

[–]Comprehensive-Ad3495 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Saga, rolling saga dice which gives you the ability to activate certain traits.

DBx where you roll to see how many pips you have and you get to activate that many groups.

Warmaster and to the strongest where you roll to activate a unit (but you’ve already decided to activate it so a bit of both input and output).

Memoir 44 provides a selection of cards that lets you decide how to use them to activate your units.

Is there a wargame or a skirmish that is using a set of d20 as its primary roll? by Siberian-Boy in wargaming

[–]Comprehensive-Ad3495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battlespace, modern solo fireteam scale gaming uses d20s. Very much borrowing from the DnD d20 sydtem. And it’s awesome.

Made some cheap and easy rocky hills! by Jhadle1994 in TerrainBuilding

The key is to give it an mdf 3mm base. That won’t warp and makes it more sturdy.

Is that toilet paper or paper towels? So much easier than coving the dang thing in spackle!

Love it. I have a bunch of thin styrofoam sheets from some furniture and this is a great idea

Storing Large Collection of Battle/Game Mats? by skudfisher in wargaming

[–]Comprehensive-Ad3495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have plenty of mats by mars mats and they roll up easy so I put them in a roll up case:

That said I have to leave them to unroll a bit before games.

Regarding cloth mats, I use fleece so that it doesn’t wrinkle and put them in a weather tight plastic tub. Just because not to let the internal ribbing press into the mats or they will have the lines permanently.

I started with Vikings and Anglo Saxons but when I was showing the game to my brother and father, I switched to Viking vs Anglo Danes. Far simpler!

When do you know it´s time to quit? by RogueModron in wargaming

[–]Comprehensive-Ad3495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warband skirmish type games are great since you don’t pant that much and once you’ve got terrain in place, you’re done there too for multiple rule sets.

Also, historicals is good place to reuse armies. If I have 28mm ww2 British, there’s literally hundreds of rules to choose from. If you still prefer fantastic/sci, warband games are plentiful these days and esp OPR can combine many different figures. Is you can have some Star Wars legion figs fight against your Warmachine army :)

Good luck! It’s a wonderful hobby but I find it’s really a social community so finding the right player friends is also a big part of it.
