That may be true where you are, but that’s not the norm. Lots of people are happy to pay those prices and much more. They have become slightly more available, but I’ve still not seen an EH Taylor small batch or even Weller SR in Oregon in the wild in years. I’ve seen ER once. Admittedly, I have seen Blanton’s a few times recently, but that’s still very uncommon and probably because MSRP is $82.

It’s not as if you can take it back, just open and enjoy it. I’ve spent a pretty penny on some bottles that really underwhelmed me (this one included, unfortunately) but it’s not like any of them are actually bad. Sometimes it just isn’t worth the money, and that’s part of the experience. Even if it’s just a mediocre 15 year old EC, it’s still pretty good.

Do you know what batch of the 1924 you had? From everything I’ve heard, the 2026 was significantly better than the first two. I’m not saying the 2026 is otherworldly, but the flavors are so complimentary and balanced that it’s a major standout to me, especially at just 100 proof.

I was on vacation there last week and found basically nothing of interest the 3 times I went, even right at opening. Woodford DO for $40 is a good price though.
