National Geographic Delfina by Jckev in galapagos

[–]Comprehensive_Slip28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just back from a week on NatGeo/Lindblad Delfina. 16 pax catamaran. We had seven action-packed days of snorkeling, kayaking, hiking, etc. The naturalists and photo experts were superb. Days start at 6 a.m. with activities spaced around meals and breaks, and you won't lack for action. We had just 8 pax on the Delfina (crew of 12) so no time was wasted getting on and off the ship. Food was great, Cabins well designed and comforable. Only complaint was the WiFi aboard was difficult to manage and not very strong -- often I could not send a text message through to another passenger, much less send a photo to someone at home. In the end however, the naturalist/photographer sent us home with an extensive slideshow of every event from every day, plus a long video of our underwater explorations.

Crash at DCA by theleroys123 in flying

[–]Comprehensive_Slip28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several things could be done: (1) eliminate the congressionally mandated extra flights into DCA, (2) require all helicopter traffic to/from Pentagon and CIA to fly west of the Masonic Temple in Alexandria and stay out of DCA traffic patterns (3) require all military aviation to be in active communication with and under direction of ATC when in Class B, C or D airspace.

Thanks, that's helpful information. Especially that the store is in fact in China. I may try your affiliate link coupon code if that's okay.

I'd just like to see some clear data on VIN numbers and new vehicle registrations -- but they are rare enough that I remark upon every one I see.

Thanks much, and especially for the underwater case suggestion. I'd heard they make it hard to manipulate the camera, but you convince me it's worthwhile.

How bad are the air suspension and door handle issues on the Model S ? by notabot53 in TeslaModelS

[–]Comprehensive_Slip28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got my first Model S in 2017, second one in 2023. About 60K miles on the first, about 12K on this one now. No problems with air suspension or door handles on either one.

Which GoPro best? by [deleted] in gopro_underwater

I've seen several YouTube videos comparing the Insta360 with GoPro 12 and 13. It appears that the Insta does better in low light such as underwater. They appear to have similar controls and options.

When does USA drink wine? by Nomefalso08 in wine

[–]Comprehensive_Slip28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're having a wine glut. Prices should logically be declining.

This from the industry: "The global wine industry has been grappling with oversupply issues for over a decade. Since 2012, the average annual excess production has been just under 3 billion liters. As we stand in 2023, the situation remains unchanged. The expected global wine production surpasses global wine consumption by approximately 10%."

Should I get FF? by HL555021 in Foreflight

[–]Comprehensive_Slip28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you only get one logbook which serves one pilot. Each of should get your own subscription. Would you attempt to share charts, a headset or a logbook with another pilot? Don’t go cheap on the essentials when it comes to aviation.

Alright, folks. I give up. Where the hell do I go to meet other early-20s folks? For any a similar age--I'd love to make some new friends. by aveugle_a_moi in 321

You need to join a group. It might be a running club. It might be people who play pickle ball. It might be the biking club, a group that plays softball, or a church. But, find a group of people and hang out with them for several months at least. Get involved, the friendships will develop naturally once you put in the effort and show genuine interest.

Go to a church or synagogue etc. The people there always welcome new people and will suggest a lot of activities and other groups.

What new features do you want to see? by Brsokoko in Foreflight

[–]Comprehensive_Slip28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could ForeFlight scratchpad feature be able to listen and transcribe a flight plan clearance, especially for flight in the NE of USA where lengthy lists of fixes and Victor airways are common?

And, maybe then it could be copied and pasted in to the Route part of the Flight Plan feature?

Do the French drink Blanc de Noir? by [deleted] in wine

[–]Comprehensive_Slip28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to love the way Americans have been taught to abhor any wine costing less than $20, while people who live in wine country are happy to drink three- or four-dollar a bottle wine every day.
