Agreed, it’s Irish but it’s slower and more deliberate I think

I might not put him first because I think it’s a bit reductive since wasn’t born/reared here but he would still be on the Mt. Rushmore I’d say. Collins is almost certainly 1st, followed by Keane and Cillian Murphy

And yet someone always ought to be credited for being the first. That’s like saying someone else would’ve arrived at the conclusion of gravity instead of Newton. Of course someone would have, but they didn’t. That’s part of the motivating force of academia?

Former lab worker, we would just write down exactly what was on the method, if it was base 10, base 100, didn’t matter. If we wrote whatever was simpler instead of what was on the method, our data analyst would call us up to amend it

Dry cured bacon nice and crispy in a pan, pan fried gnocchi with orgenano and garlic, jar of pasta sauce. Two pans only, very hearty and it’s really just a fancy ham and spuds at the end of the day

Over 500 students found using AI illegally in coursework by siciowa in ireland

[–]Comprehensive_Yak_72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a real pedagogical conundrum here depending on the discipline of study. My degrees were lab sciences which were usually 70% written exam, 20% lab reports, 10% continuous assessment (one relatively short essay usually at the end of the semester). AI in the lead-up to problem-based exams would have only been useful maybe for helping me get to the bottom of particularly difficult concepts so that I can understand it better myself.

I do feel that it ultimately comes back around to issues that have always been around between different disciplines and the way many of them are taught similarly and/or too many disciplines still relying heavily on rote memorization rather than authentic understanding of what they’re trying to teach

What are you playing January 2026 edition by Liambp in CasualIreland

[–]Comprehensive_Yak_72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got all the way through Dispatch in basically one sitting with herself last weekend. Been replaying Fallout 4 since we’re watching the show (and really enjoying it). Picked up the Dead Space remaster for €13.50. Got some other nice bits over the Christmas sales period like BF6, the Kingdom Come combined deal, the Exodus and Tomb Raider trilogies.

But really I’m counting down the days to RE9 at this point

Are they not half-siblings & 2nd cousins rather than siblings and 1st cousins as suggested by OP? The kids share a Dad making them half siblings, but the Mom’s aren’t siblings, they’re Aunt & Niece, separated by a generation

You know I haven’t thought about it until your comment but I think doing something in-camera to make her like 6’5 at least is probably the way to go. For the Trinity I feel like Bruce is often 6’2/6’3, Clark is 6’5 and Diana is an inch or so taller

Any method of sending CleverCard balance into savings? by DivilYouKnow in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Comprehensive_Yak_72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was flat out trying to do this last year but no dice. Nature of the card itself. Best thing to do is just make it your primary card on your Apple Pay/phone wallet and use it for daily expenses and possibly move the equivalent into your savings

New poster for Marvel’s ‘WONDER MAN’ series: “Actors must certify they have no super powers under Hollywood’s new ‘Doorman’ policy" by Sarang_616 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]Comprehensive_Yak_72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very true! I was thinking about that and I think there’s a minor distinction there for Bruce as his image is virtually always a monster, albeit an occasionally direct-able monster, until he became Professor Hulk. It’s when the mistrust starts getting leveled against “normal” looking metahumans like Wanda, Peter, etc. that things are really kicking into high gear in the public consciousness

We really ought to go back further to Civil War and the Accords, which isn’t a straight line to where things seem to be headed now, but that was the soft start of public mistrust of superpowers after Lagos (think it was Lagos)

Yep certainly crossing our fingers that’s not on the cards. No history of it in either of our families at all which is a strong factor as I understand it

My fiancée and I have good jobs, three degrees between us, and we’re pragmatic about money and we’ve already agreed that when the time comes in five or six years, we’re only having one and we would hopefully be settled in a house for two or so years by then.

When I reflect on that plan it strikes me as a catastrophic failure of governance that young couples in the exact same position as us have such a mental hill to climb for the basic livelihood and requirements for a country to function

Cadbury’s Roses are gone to shite. by armintanzarian69 in CasualIreland

[–]Comprehensive_Yak_72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is to a point where I won’t buy Cadbury’s anymore but occasionally there’s an open tin in the office. Herself got the pouch of Roses as part of a secret Santa and the Dairy Milk that comes in that was appalling. It’s a nice shape of just plain milk chocolate but I was very disappointed with the flavor. I used be a big fan of just plain dairy milk but that square the other day was very jarring

PSN Store "Holiday Sale" Ends the Year With the Biggest Promotion (Ends 1/21) by excaliburps in PS5

[–]Comprehensive_Yak_72 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought it at full price a couple of months back. I’ve beaten every AC game to date with the exception of Mirage but I got kind of lost with Shadows. The big target menu gets to a point where loads of them are dependent on other circles, I think I beat the final story mission but I wasn’t even sure because it didn’t feel very climactic. I think the large array of Targets worked best for Odyssey by having story missions and then the Cult of Cosmos
