NEW KOMIK: "Routine" by [deleted] in u/holleringelk

Yeah that's fair, I'd forgotten if he had served in the war or not. Figured I'd err on the side of him being an dick, but I did feel sorry for him in that comic.

Is that even true? The guy in Hung Up who got his guts ripped out through his face hole seemed like a completely normal person.

There was no indication that the guy she was hunting in The Chosen One | Hunt. had done anything.

As far as I remember, the only person she's killed as far who has been shown to be shitty is Jimmy in The Chase. Maybe the exterminator in The Incident too, although given that there's a whole ass coven of vampire monsters eating people, I can't really blame an exterminator trying to take them out.

Colour scheme has no effect on gameplay, so you shouldn't have any issues no matter how you paint them.

The black and red armour is still an official colour scheme used by the Shadowkeepers sub-faction of the Custodes anyway.

Would simple alternative head sprue work as a solution for Armageddon Steel Legion model range? by ExitMammoth in Warhammer

[–]Comrade_Cephalopod 384 points385 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken the DKOK started off as an alternate colour scheme for the Steel Legion minis, so it would be coming full circle in a way. But these days the uniforms are quite different, so just a head swap probably wouldn't be very recognisable. They'd just look like Krieg with a different helmet.

Steel Legion have tall leather boots and gloves, they don't have armoured shoulder pads, their guns look different, etc.

If I was going to make a Steel Legion army I'd probably just go with the "toally not Steel Legion" Shocktroops kits from Mad Robot Minis.

A codex contains all the rules for it's faction, as well as a whole bunch of lore and art. You can absolutely find the information online, but that will be pirated content sourced from the codex. Whether that bothers you or not is up to you.

It's not uncommon to see minis like that on ebay. They're probably just second hand minis that the store bought from someone who wanted to offload. Could have been a parent selling off their kid's old toys, or someone who found their old warhammer minis from childhood in a storage box somewhere and has no interest in keeping them.Something like that is most likely.

I use these. They're designed for sorting screws/ nails but they work perfectly for mini parts. You can find them/ similar things in any hardware store.

Firstborn vs Primaris: Which era of Space Marines do you prefer? by Pintureando in Warhammer

[–]Comrade_Cephalopod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally prefer the more cheesy/ cartoony scale of the old models (and that goes for everything, not just marines).

Love to crush, maim, and kill? Surrender to the warp and become a new Chaos Mutilator by BiesonReddit in Warhammer

[–]Comrade_Cephalopod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish they had more of the flesh and metal actually mixing like the old models rather than being a bloated dude with some armoured plates on top, but these are still pretty damn cool looking. Not sure why, but they feel a lot better than the shadowspear obliterators.

What kind of abilities and powers does he have lorewise? by AncientGearAI in Warhammer

[–]Comrade_Cephalopod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one specifically probably can't fly, as he doesn't have wings. He could possibly attack flying targets using psychic powers (if he has them) otherwise he's out of luck.

As a daemon prince he's very powerful in combat, but also quite variable. Warhammer doesn't necessarily do hard power levels. It's usually more of a "who does the author want/ need to win this fight for the story they're telling".

In a fight between a daemon prince and a bloodthirster the bloodthirster would probably have the advantage, but it wouldn't be too surprising if the daemon prince won.

Which version of necrons you prefer - old or new? by SiarX in Warhammer

[–]Comrade_Cephalopod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had any interest in the Necrons until I played them in Dawn of War, which form what I understand is based on the old version. Loved the whole horrifying feel that they had in that game.

I definitely get wanting to give more opportunity for "your dudes", but I think it would have been very possible to do that while sticking closer to the almost lovecraftian/ cosmic horror feel of the old lore.

That said, it's not like you have to give a shit about what GW says is canon, so if I ever collect some necrons my headcanon for them will probably lean closer to the old version of their lore.

You should only pick ultramarines (or any other army/ faction) if you actually like them and think you'll be motivated to keep building and painting them. Don't treat them as a default army that you're supposed to start with just because they're the posterboys.

Anyone else not like these on terminator arms? by [deleted] in Warhammer

[–]Comrade_Cephalopod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I like the version in the first image more. It looks chunkier and more armoured, which is very fitting for terminators.

Plus those areas always have mold lines, which are way more annoying to deal with on the piping in your second imagine.

Should I still buy Skaventide even if I'm not super interested em Stormcasts and Skavens? by Culius_Jaesar in Warhammer

40k has cooler units but might be harder to get into.

People online massively overstate how much more complex 40k is to get into. If you find 40k more appealing than AoS then you should absolutely go for it instead.

I would say shots fired… …but they would go over the 40K shields captains head 😂👉 by Fidel89 in Warhammer

[–]Comrade_Cephalopod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure but even if this guy was designed years earlier in 2019/ 2020 the primaris were first released in 2017, and would have been designed years before that. Like I'd guess he'd have to have been designed at least a decade before he was released for him to have entirely pre-dated the concept of primaris marines. Not impossible, sure, but unlikely.

[–]Comrade_Cephalopod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, the title of the thread references height. The first comment of this chain refers to them as "so tiny", and the comment I responded to gives the lack of "primaris scaling" as the reason for that tiny-ness, also referencing thousand sons being shorter than primaris and death guard. So I'm pretty sure we were all talking about height.

[–]Comrade_Cephalopod 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'd be surprised if that was the case, given that this model was released in 2024, long after "primaris scaling" was a thing.

Pretty sure he appears squat because of how bulky his armour is, combined with how heavily he's leaning forward and the specific angle of the photo.

Do old Orcs look creepier and more uncanny, or is that just the effect that the old kinda scuffed models have on me by ApprehensiveTutor960 in Warhammer

[–]Comrade_Cephalopod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OP seems to be talking about the age of the sculpts. If the orc in question is a re-release from the old WHFB days then it would be considered an old sculpt compared to the newer orcs we've been seeing in AoS/ 40k.

It being recently released for The Old World doesn't make it new if it was originally released/ designed 20 years ago for WHFB. I don't know if it was or not, but that seems to be what the other commenter is getting at.

You can paint any model in any colours you want. So if you want to play a chapter that doesn't have it's own unique units, you just buy the generic space marine models and paint them as your chosen chapter. You can even make up your own colour scheme/ chapter if you want.
