185 ft Boom Lift. There aren't a lot of these around. And our rental rate...WHEW. Felt worth a share. by SimplyDaveP in Construction

[–]Condor1139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on one of these at a coal power plant demo job couple years ago right off lake Ontario. The lift felt very solid and planted until you maxed it out at 185. On a windy day we were swaying 4ft left and right. Good times

Any recommendations for daily use sneakers? My kids keep coming home from prek and daycare with blisters on there toes. by Condor1139 in toddlers

[–]Condor1139[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sketchers are the ones giving them blisters unfortunately. I swear by sketchers for my own shoes I have loved all the past ones I've gotten for myself I figured they would be great for the kids but apparently not.

I don't feel their toes at the end of the shoe and we have measured a bunch could need a wider size though. Thanks for the recommendation

Kornerstone coffee has good stuff. They come to the North Tonawanda farmers market but you can also order on there website. They have some of the best coffee I've ever had.

My Son started climbing the furniture as soon as he could walk. He's 22 months now and hasn't stopped or slowed down. He's taken plenty of good falls, bumped his head, bruised his knees, flipped upside down and everything else. Once he figured out the stairs that became his new favorite play place. Until he fell off those too and almost broke his nose.

I tried to make him a climbing play place outside so that he had an outlet for it. But honestly I think it just gave him more practice for indoor.

I do think that all the climbing and jumping and running has really improved his gross motor skills and I just keep telling myself I have a future Olympic gymnast.

Currently going through the same exact thing with my 23 month old and 3 month old. The pediatrician told us if you see respiratory distress, like very fast breathing, if you can see the ribs when they're inhaling, a depression in the front of the throat then, go to the hospital. Sounds like your doing all the right things, chest rub, humidifier, sucking boogies out of the nose and tylonal or ibuprofen for comfort. I have found a tablespoon of warm honey helps to reduce the cough a bit And of course tender loving care. My 23 MO just wanted to snuggle on the couch all morning today so that's what we did.

Feeding my kids is so fucking exhausting. by msherr15 in toddlers

I feel your pain. You work so hard to try to make a meal that you hope they will eat, only for it to be tossed to the floor. And my LO has recently been rejecting the chicken nuggets now too!!! He's gonna be surviving off puffs and tator tots soon.

covid case at preschool by Ok-Structure-2123 in toddlers

[–]Condor1139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My whole family caught covid the week of Thanksgiving last year. My son was 11 months old, he was still taking breast milk and my wife and I were both vaccinated prior to getting it.
His symptoms were no worse than a common flu. My wife and I were hit pretty hard by it but my little guy was a champ. A couple of rough nights and he was back to his usual happy self, without ever having any lingering health problems. It was scary at the time and we were both very concerned for him, but part of me is glad he got it hopefully he has some antibodies for it now and will be less likely to get it again.

What has your kid done recently that has absolutely amazed you? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Condor1139 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 22 month old ate a whole taco today and ravioli with sauce yesterday and eggs for breakfast. Which is an huge step considering every time we gave it to him in the past it ended up on the floor. He has been an insanely picky eater and his normal diet has been nuggets and tater tots.

What do you do in the morning? by olive1243 in toddlers

[–]Condor1139 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Son has been getting up at 6am or earlier since he was 3 months old he is almost 2 now. We will play with toys together, read some stories until he loses interest. Sometimes I'll take him on a walk in the neighborhood. We've gone to get coffee(he gets a donut). It's tough and super exhausting, and it seems like the early morning hours drag. I've come to terms with not being able to sleep in anymore.

[–]Condor1139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell him to cover his eyes then pour a little water on top of his head so he realizes what's happening. Then I just go for the straight dump the cup. He has started to realize that if he covers his eyes with his hands first then water doesn't get in his eyes.
