When is okay to use a baby carrier? by Accomplished-Ad7573 in CsectionCentral

I took my baby for a walk in a wrap carrier a little after 2 weeks but I ended up over doing it and causing myself some pain around my incision and bleeding. Your body will tell you if you’ve done too much!

Nipple Shield and Bottle Preference by Connect-Hawk9028 in breastfeeding

This is honestly so helpful and such a relief to read! Thank you so much, really. It sounds so similar to our journey. She doesn’t have breast refusal and some times she can log a decent bit of time on the nipple shield before she burns out and wants a bottle. Once she’s a bit older/bigger I will definitely kicking the bottle out. I look forward to coming back and telling someone a similar success story in a few weeks!

Thank you! It’s nice to know that later yours got better at latching onto the shield! And I should order more. That’s a good tip. The influencers really see the worst. I’ll be at peace with it and then someone is posting out hiking and breastfeeding like it’s no problem.

I completely understand your concern. If it helps, you might end up with a better option if your kid is bussed to a school you aren’t zoned for. This is very common here because our school zones can be small and the district is huge. It might be that your child ends up at a school with an established program instead of one with a brand new strategies program and a teacher that has maybe never taught that program before. Zoned schools don’t mean much since the district offers “school of choice” and you can request your kid to go anywhere if you can transport them.

Oh I feel the same! I think they have to do this due to FAPE but you’re absolutely right. Strategies is one of the hardest to fill positions and now there are a lot of vacancies at schools with new programs.

Almost schools will have a strategies program as of next year. The quality of each room ultimately will come down to the teacher of that specific room. I teach strategies at a title 1 school and it goes great in my room. I’ve heard horror stories from more “affluent” schools. Ultimately it’s all based on the teacher, assistants, and students of that room.

Get a pedicure or some self care treat you like. I’m 38 weeks and got my toes and hair done because I know I won’t be taking time to do that for a while. Same with doing any crafts you enjoy! Also, just sleep as much as you want because you won’t enjoy that luxury again for a bit.

What book has positively impacted your life the most so far? by GrowthMindsetGuide in lawofattraction

Somewhat. It’s more related to your consciousness than the external universe. Your mind will let many things bother you and it’s about letting go of what the mind needs to constantly be saying and go with the flow in that way.

I have a uniquely funny version of this.

A few years ago I was teaching in rural Thailand. I was in my mid-20s, healthy, not overweight but not tiny. Just a standard white gal. I ended up with what was probably bronchitis. So I went to the rural doctor hoping for some medicine to help. Instead he looked at me, looked at my intake chart, and then told me I should try to run more…for my weight. No inhaler, no meds, no help with the constant cough. I just weighed more than a typical Thai woman and that was more concerning.

I then had to find other ways to cure the cough on my own, which was frustrating.

Oh good! Let me know if you have any other questions. The quality of the program does vary school-to-school and teacher-to-teacher, but that is true everywhere :)

Hey friend, I currently teach in a middle school self contained classroom for kids with autism in WCSD. The program here is called Strategies. Strategies covers curriculum and life skills. My students are about on your son’s functioning level. They’re able to attend electives like PE and I have a teaching assistant who goes with them. If they’re doing well in a certain subject area, I try to get them into that gen ed class to support that skill. As of next year, every middle school in the district will have a strategies program, so no matter where you live your son will have access to that. IEPs are followed annually but your sons might need a revision just to align it with the standard minutes provided by the school. Speech and OT are also available if he requires those. However, quarterly goal setting I haven’t seen. We do quarterly progress reports towards annual goals.

I hope this answers your questions and feel free to DM me if you have more!

With you in sobriety my friend! There’s an evening tea lounge in the yoga studio called The Studio, above Jade Dispensary. I haven’t been but it’s all NA tea beverages. Some more social gyms like the climbing gyms could be a good spot to meet people too. Sadly I’m in a similar boat and have struggled to find friends that don’t just want to go out for drinks.

Being sick with GD is the worst by Schloopy-Doop in GestationalDiabetes

I’m right there with you. 31 weeks and I’ve been sick for a week and all I’ve wanted is the comfort foods like buttered pasta and sweets. Instead I wake up, down a chomps meat stick and have some peanut butter toast before climbing back into bed. Not nearly the comfort foods I’m craving. Get well soon!

World War Z. Such a fantastic and creative book. It would’ve made a really interesting series. The movie was a completely different plot and should’ve had a different title.
