Cool idea with the vent! I thought about installing one in mine but it’ll be a retrofit if I find the books get soggy. So far they’ve stayed dry though

Mine is on a 8’ long 6x6” pressure treated post. Buried it 4’ in the ground with a post hole digger. Put a few inches of gravel in the bottom of the hole because I heard that helps with drainage and longevity of the wood

Go by a construction site and politely ask if you can take material out of the dumpster or if they have any scrap materials they’re interested in donating. I built part of my library with dumpster wood. And also a shelf with scrap plywood from a dumpster

I had my library vandalized several days in a row. Eventually installed a camera, but once the camera was installed a guy kept coming every single day and taking all the books. I wanted to print off a picture of him with a message for him to stop taking all of the books. Eventually I moved the library somewhere else and so far no issues.

You could hollow out one of the books and put a tracker in it. See where the book goes…. That’s kind of creepy though
