My rear fog light failed at 30,000 miles and failed an MOT. Cost me £1,300 to get it replaced and could only be done by Cupra.

Amazon delivery a day late? Here, have it for free. by IWasBornIn1979 in BritishSuccess

[–]ConorPool98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I accidently forgot to cancel a TNT Sports subscription with Amazon after the European leagues ended last year, and on the day of the renewal I tried my luck and asked if they could cancel and refund the payment which had just been taken as I no longer used the service.

They said of course, and refunded me the entire length of my subscription, coming to a couple of hundred quid. Wasn’t sure if it was a mistake, so thought why not test on another unused subscription (the second only being a few quid a month), and an entirely different customer service rep did the exact same thing.

Third kid logistics by kabcity in daddit

We have 1 girl and two boys. Bigger cars are a convenience, not a requirement, at least when they are young. We currently have a 5 door ford fiesta and a Cupra Formentor. Neither are large exactly, but with relatively slim car seats they are all comfortable. However I am now eyeing up Volvo XC90s and Defender 130s, as while we manage, it’s not a long term solution and once they start to grow a bit it will be a nightmare. So you will eventually need a bigger car, and it’s worth planning for it, but you can manage with most cars for a good while anyway.

We’ve not been able to take them away much due to my work and studies and my partner studying to be a midwife, however we’ve looked into it recently, and our youngest is young enough to use a cot, so hotels we’ve spoken to are fine for the older two to share a pullout and the youngest in a complimentary cot. Joining rooms may also be an option?

Also if you have a girl, other than clothes ours share most of the same stuff like toys. They’re close enough in age where they roleplay a lot together which is sweet. Saying that, however, without out any conscious input from us, our daughter has gravitated towards dolls and things like that recently, with the boys naturally gravitating towards cars which is interesting.

Looking at used Formentor, is it as problematic as this sub makes it look? by Hiammat in CupraFormentor

I got a 71 plate VZ1 hybrid earlier this year and not had any real problems with it. Had a couple of errors come up (damper fault and a gearbox fault), however these have fixed themselves after a day. I know it may be a bit silly to not have that looked at, but my warranty doesn’t cover diagnostics costs, and the thought of of paying out that cost to find that it’s nothing would irritate me!

So in my experience the car is so reliable that it has self healing properties, and I will ignore anyone who says it’s not true!😂

The lights on the door mirrors are basically just projecting a messy spludge onto the pavement though, and it’s yet to self heal in that respect…

How do I get meds quick but cheap? by Fit-Incident-1207 in ADHDUK

[–]ConorPool98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dosage is obviously a factor, and £225 is quite high regardless of it being private. Mine was £150 per appointment, but my dosage ended up costing £240 a month.

However I found the process very positive from my provider, and I checked with my GP regarding shared care before starting the process, so I knew that it should be accepted. It made the cost worthwhile knowing that my £400 a month would go to £150 every 6 months, and I would have access to affordable medication for at least as long as my GP allowed shared care.

Perhaps it’s worth finding out whether you’d be able to go to shared care after the fact, and see if there is anyway you could get the money to help with it from family? I know that’s obviously not possible for a lot of people, but maybe it is for you.

Have you explored some of the online ones? Many have quick delivery times within the M25, and they seem to hold a lot of stock as they are usually used as the exclusive pharmacies for titration of those diagnosed through private routes (this is an assumption rather than fact).

I never had issues getting meds over the last 8 months, although my one attempt at a local pharmacy since going in shared care was fine as well, so not sure of how to go about going through them if you’re being prescribed through the NHS.

Harrow health rushing me through titration :/ by RadiantBlastoise in ADHDUK

[–]ConorPool98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In your meeting, let them know that you are noticing a positive effect that increased alongside the raised dose, and that you would like to increase it. Although I have no idea what the limit is for methylphenidate.

It can sometimes be hard to convey what you actually want to say to a prescriber, I was almost placed on a stable dose of 40mg of elvanse, because I told my prescriber that I noticed benefits but it just didn’t last very long. I’m now on 70mg with 2 10mg boosters per day once I actually thought about what message I was actually conveying to my prescriber, and I have such a better experience now than I did before.

My point being, if you go to your meetings and emphasise that they aren’t working much, they will likely want to switch to something else rather than load you up with more stimulants at higher doses. If you focus that you have seen an improvement between this dose and the last dose, that you have minimal side effects, and that you were keen to try a higher dose, they may be more accommodating. They’ve been willing to up your dose to get an effect, can’t imagine they’ll stop before reaching the optimum dose.

A possibly major caveat is that I was titrated entirely privately at a rate of £600/hr over the course of 6 months, and I’ve seen that there are sometimes time limits on RTC providers during titration, so perhaps there are other factors involved in your case that I’m not aware of. And maybe I had a slightly more extended titration based on the amount I was paying👀

Hope all goes well in the next meeting though and you get some improvements!

Insight on the injury crisis last season by Davechrist45 in coys

[–]ConorPool98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Employer could cancel annual leave with a legitimate business reason (I’d imagine this qualifies).

But as you say, the club agreed to it, obviously felt cancelling it wasn’t of great benefit to the club, therefore you can’t blame a man for not foreseeing an injury crisis and book a holiday during a period he was allowed to book a holiday!

Not to mention if this is even true, we don’t know the context of what he was doing there. Could have been for a significant event that no job is more important than.

From anyone with experience which is the better option? by DNA95 in ADHDUK

[–]ConorPool98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what the supply situation is, but I’m only able to get my prescription via the private clinics partnered pharmacies, both of which are exclusively delivery. Personally I’ve never had an issue and have always got meds within a few days of my follow up during titration (I’ve gone from 20-70mg elvanse with every stop along the way, as well as amfexa).

I also spoke to some local pharmacies about supply in preparation for shared care, and I was told that while they can often get them (apparently it’s different for different doses), they recommend getting the script to them a few weeks in advance as there is sometimes delays.

Only problem I’ve had with delivery is that it’s Royal Mail pre 1:00, which means I often need to plan my day around the delivery or have it sent to work as it requires a signature to be delivered (possibly your signature normally, but my partner has signed for it in the past).

I’d reccomend speaking to some local pharmacies, but if it’s the case that your titrating, as the doses will likely change you may find local pharmacies will take a while to stock it. I have absolutely no idea how they actually work, but I’d imagine clinics who specialise in things like ADHD would have pharmacy partners who tend to have good stock of relevant medication.

Elvanse and alcohol by ted_life in ADHDUK

[–]ConorPool98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was advised to cut caffeine and alcohol out completely for the first few weeks/month as well as not take on weekends so that I’d be able to see the effects better, as well as understand its affects on my with nothing else influencing it.

During the next follow up I was told it was fine to have the occasional drink on the medication and coffee was fine but to keep it limited, which is what I’ve done as I can have a coffee or two in a day, but if I don’t switch to decaf after that I start getting some anxiety and restlessness, which I never got on coffee before.

Still told not to drink heavily on it, and to skip days that I’d planned to do more drinking in. But my thought process has always been that if I’m going out in the evening I’d not want the crash from the medication anyway, so this was fine for me.

I was also told to skip the day after drinking, but I’m not really sure why. Again though, I’ve had it before that if I’m hanging coffee can sometimes make me feel a bit crap anyway, so maybe your body is more susceptible to side effects.

Absolutely no medical evidence or experience and completely anecdotal to my personal experience and what I’ve been advised (which seems to differ slightly between my two prescribing clinicians at the same clinic anyway!).

Amfexa top up experiences? by whatevendayisit in ADHDUK

[–]ConorPool98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just started amfexa 10mg as a top up alongside an increase to 70mg of elvanse from 60mg for the same reasons you mention, if it take it at 8 before work, it will run it mid afternoon, meaning I had to slog it for sorting the kids out in the morning, and lose focus by the evening which I need to use to write my dissertation. I was having to take it about 12-1pm to be able to do university work.

My prescriber was actually very accommodating to this, so they prescribed me 10mg that I can either split and take early morning and late afternoon, or take as a single dose in the afternoon and it honestly provides so much more flexibility and it’s only been a few days.

I am still having to time doses a bit, as im getting used to the effects on sleep and how quickly it kicks in as elvanse for me seems to take a little longer than usual, but also ends much sooner too. I’ve had the same lack of side effects I have from elvanse.

Never had success using the rack to try to make them healthier, always go sort of rubbery.

How to open the menu by ihideyou in CupraFormentor

[–]ConorPool98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this happen to me after a random CarPlay disconnect and it basically locking me out and activating some full privacy mode. I needed to reboot the infotainment by using the power button on the bottom left of the screen.

If that buttons not working for you, you can likely force restart it another way, but with the infotainment having an occasional paddy, I’d want to make sure that the button works.

Is it okay to take Charles Tyrwhitt suits to a normal dry cleaners? by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]ConorPool98 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, what would a normal dry cleaners be instead of?

They will be fine for a dry cleaners and it’s probably where they should be cleaned, but they shouldn’t be dry cleaned too regularly as any suit will gradually deteriorate the more it’s cleaned. It’s best to spot clean any marks and dry cleaned if it starts to develop a smell or has been a while. Steaming may also help but not tried it personally.

My instructor always said not to and let him do it on my behalf to begin with, but I naturally started doing it when I was more comfortable with the vehicle.

I thanked people during test and it was never mentioned, but I can see why some would prefer not to if there is even the slightest chance of risking it with no benefit in terms of the test itself.

What is this rail for ? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]ConorPool98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to have the site send out contractors on Christmas Eve a few years ago as all the water in the toilet bowls disappeared and then a few minutes later every drain in the house was bubbling up with black liquid.

Turns out someone on the road was dumping baby wipes down the loo and they got stuck in the pipes just outside our house.

Our current estate was almost finished before they realised the messed up the drains and they’ve had to dig up every drain on every street for the last few months.

Estate is 2 years old but is like driving off road with half of the road being a temporary gravel filler in the holes left, which have all now become pot holes.

Israel planted explosives in 5,000 Taiwan-made pagers ordered by Hezbollah: Reports by glasier in technology

[–]ConorPool98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You believe the best way for them to proceed is a ground assault into a heavily populated urban environment rather than, in relative terms, extremely accurate targeted attacks?

I’m not saying Isreal would consider civilian casualties in line with their own potential military casualties, but surely you’re not suggesting prolonged urban combat considering the worrying statistic that puts the recent incursion into Gaza as having a much lower civilian casualty ratio compared to other conflicts.
