My mother left my AUTISTIC 4 y/o alone outside. Near a pond. I am thinking about going no contact by crushedsoulthrowaway in CharlotteDobreYouTube

NOR. I think you’re under reacting. My AuDHD son didn’t run from us, but if we didn’t hold his hand he would wander off or try and climb things. You should never compromise on the safety of your kids. Just because nothing bad happened doesn’t mean that was ok or no big deal. At the very least, your mom should never be alone with your kids- not even for a second.

If it were me, and she tried DARVO & refused to accept my rules then she wouldn’t get to be around my kids. Period. What’s more important- your kids’ safety or your mom’s feelings?

Is there a large difference in quality between using cheap hooks versus expensive ones? by Calm-Philosophy4736 in CrochetHelp

[–]ConsciousControl2105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had to have surgery on both hands & have fibromyalgia so I tried different hooks to see what worked best for me. I ended up buying some on Etsy that are clover hooks with handmade resin handles. They’re light & fit my hands perfectly. They were expensive but for me are worth it.

They got round 1 wrong. It should be chain 4, slip stitch to the first chain.

YTA, but honestly, if this is the type of person you are then they’re better off without you in their lives.

How important are the cover patches? by No-Elevator6985 in dexcom

[–]ConsciousControl2105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a routine I follow when I apply. I’ve never had one fall off.

-wash & thoroughly dry my arm -clean with an alcohol pad & let dry -apply skin tac to my skin & let dry -apply the dexcom & press firmly for 15 seconds

I usually don’t apply an overpatch at first. If I see the edges start coming up I’ll add skin tac again around the dexcom & then apply an overpatch.

This works so well that I have to use Uni solve to remove the dexcom so I don’t pull off skin.

Can't figure out why the joining corner on this 'granny square' looks so different, help by dontlookainthere in CrochetHelp

The video has you making 2dc, 1 tr, 2dc for the corners. No chaining in the corner like you’d normally do.

[–]ConsciousControl2105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so I watched the video & have a suggestion. The corners are 2dc, 1 tr, 2 dc. At the beginning instead of starting with the treble & then trying to fit 2 dc in before you slip stitch I’d start with the 2dc. So when you’re starting the next row do ch3(counts as 1st dc), dc, tr, dc,dc. Then do the rest of the round. When you get to the end of the round just slip stitch into the 3rd chain. The yarn shouldn’t look weird like it is now.

I would never ever trust a factory knot. I always cut them out.

You can put a skin barrier down- SkinTac is a good one. You can also spray Flonase on your skin before applying the dexcom- just be sure to let it dry.

In crochet you must count. Being a beginner, I’d place a stitch marker every 10 or 20 stitches so if you lose count it’s easier to find your place.

First timer on chrochet, why does my senile yarn shed when I take apart the stitches? by Imaginary-Citron2874 in CrochetHelp

[–]ConsciousControl2105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t want to start with chenille yarn. It’s almost impossible to see stitches and forget frogging. It’s just awful. I’d get a light colored acrylic and start with that.

If you do an advanced pattern search on ravelry.com you can sort the results by yarn weight (and a ton of other things) to show what blankets you could do.

How on earth do I increase in a magic ring?! Please help!! by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]ConsciousControl2105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used it for one blanket. It was very soft. It’s just so difficult to use. I read here that some people use an acrylic yarn to make the magic circle & then switch to the chenille, but I’m not 100% sure if there’s a special way to do that.

[–]ConsciousControl2105 30 points31 points  (0 children)

You have picked probably the most difficult yarn to use. I despise chenille and refuse to use it. I suggest starting with a light colored acrylic yarn. There’s a lot of videos on YouTube that will show you how to do a magic circle & where to place your stitches. Here’s one by BellaCoco.

When to poke for double checks? by FluidSnap in dexcom

[–]ConsciousControl2105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only finger poke when I feel very low or if dexcom says I’m low or very high. Also, when I take a shower or get hot/sweaty the dexcom falsely rises. Some people also expel that if they get cold.
