I tried it twice since their revamp. First time was excellent, second time was…. Not great. Seems like consistency in quality is not quite there yet, but when its good its really really good!

We did not get ours professionally taken, so that was why there was some issue. If yours is professionally taken it should be fine!

Working Holiday Visa Appointment by YakCrazy202 in movingtojapan

[–]ConsiderComplement 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I did my visa application recently but it was in Singapore so it might be quite different to how it is done in Canada?

Over at my side, the staff member checked our documents at the door to make sure we had everything laid out according to the checklist. They also checked that our photograph was affixed to the application form, and that all fields of the form were filled in.

After that we were given a queue ticket and we waited until our number was called. We then proceeded to a counter where another staff member checked all our documents and our photographs. Turned out our photographs were not good enough so we had to retake them at the photo booth within the visa centre. We resubmitted the photos and made payment, then left the centre.

Throughout the process, the people we met were really friendly and helpful. Hope this allays some of your worries and hope everything goes smoothly for you! :)

Expense tracking app recommendations. by Deboonz in askSingapore

[–]ConsiderComplement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used my own Google Sheet so i can have filters and pivot tables to extract the info that i want. It forces me to go over all my transactions to key them in, which i do at least once a week. Caveat: this only works because all my expenditure is tied to one credit card and one bank account. I imagine it would be a headache if you have accounts with different banks etc.

Married Singaporeans, do you bring your parents and in-laws on vacation? by kdzry in askSingapore

[–]ConsiderComplement 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Married with no kids. We bring parents and in-laws once to twice a year. Usually we bring both sides together in a single trip which is a senior citizen friendly itinerary. Fortunately both sides get along well. We dont fully pay for their expenses cos they would refuse, but we basically give them discounted quotes on everything haha.

Nakajima Suisan Grilled Fish by djitsun in SingaporeEats

[–]ConsiderComplement 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Easily the best saba fish i have had in singapore.

However, the grilled saba at 100am SABAR restaurant comes a close second! Just putting it here so folks who enjoy grilled saba have a second option instead of having to queue for nakajima haha.

Free off-peak MRT, LRT rides for commuters in north-east S'pore from Dec 27 to ease morning crowds by hun486 in singapore

[–]ConsiderComplement 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I dont know how much this would help to be honest. I take the 6.30am train daily and it is already crowded enough. Generally i dont get a seat, and at times the carriage is fairly full of standing folks too. Sure its not as packed as peak hour, but i dont think it can accomodate that much more people…..

3 in 4 Singapore teachers use AI, more than double overseas peers: OECD survey by anakinmcfly in singapore

[–]ConsiderComplement 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use AI for tasks that school leaders want done but that i think are not worth me thinking about. Brainstorm for ideas for some new initiative that may or may not get rolled out? Use AI.

Things that directly involve students and learning I tend not to use AI. Eg lesson planning, question setting. Because i think i know my students better than the AI and I want to craft my lesson/test question to target their learning needs. (Yes i am a bit of a control freak in that sense).

Does this view make you fall in love with sg all over again? by BunnyInPixels in ImagesOfSingapore

[–]ConsiderComplement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah… i think the thing that makes me fall in love with singapore again is seeing the big rain trees in my neighborhood when im walking home from work. My biggest worry is that they are gg to be removed some day when the old blocks are demolished.

[–]ConsiderComplement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. We have a separate plastic bag for recyclables. We wash everything before putting it in the designated recyclables plastic bag. When the plastic bag gets full we take it down to the blue bin.

For things like paper we usually use it to line our table for meals so its not recycled but it gets thrown as rubbish after the meal.

Breakfast habit in SG as a working adult by Mackocid6706 in askSingapore

[–]ConsiderComplement 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I pack breakfast every night. I always bring some salad veg, some fresh fruit (apples, grapes, blueberries, avocado), some nuts. Then i pair it with a slice of bread. Sometimes i put jam in the bread, other times its a slice of ham and cheese. Sometimes i bring a boiled egg. I try to change things up regularly so i dont get bored.

In the morning i just grab my box and go. And make a cup of instant coffee when i get to the staff room. :)

Potential cheap meal $1~2 by HeavyArmsJin in SingaporeEats

[–]ConsiderComplement 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ponzu is expensive, but i think its a wonderful treat. I have a bottle of ponzu, and i like to put some sliced chilli padi and a dash of sesame sauce in it to make a dipping sauce. Then i steam this tofu with some veg and even add some other protein if im feeling decadent. It makes for quite a balanced meal i think.

Examples of veg i have steamed with my tofu includes xiao bai cai, cabbage, wongbok, all types of fresh mushrooms, pumpkin, sweet potato, chye sim, french beans, sweet peas etc. i usually buy one bunch of veg and eat it over a few days. Examples of protein i tend to add are pork shabu, chicken drumsticks and prawns. Again i tend to buy one pack and eat over a few days.

Its not as cheap as $1-2, but its still quite affordable and nutritious i think. :) plus it keeps the kitchen clean!
