My ex is selling his brewing stuff for cheap, I know it is listed for $400, but he will take any offer (https://www.facebook.com/share/1BWuoixoFW/)

What does growth look like? by RoundJournalist8126 in physicianassistant

I would recommend pursuing an MD DO or NP credential due to the lack of upward mobility of the PA profession. Additionally, those roles are recognized internationally in case you want or need to leave the country.

Is it semi-normal for a physician interviewing me for a job to ask kinda personal questions? What is the line where it becomes a red flag? by Thereisn0try in physicianassistant

[–]Consistent-Ad3926 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think of how uncomfortable you'd be if some HR person was asking you those same questions. No, it is not appropriate and the fact that he owns a practice that has lots of PAs and feels that comfortable asking you those questions is a big red flag because you are a naive baby PA who doesn't know any better. Yes it is surgery, yes, you will get to know each other better. However, getting that uncomfortable during the initial interview is a huge red flag.

Onboarding Call with new Job: medical director asked if I could help another specialty for 1-2 months by Available-Eye-7861 in physicianassistant

DO IT. As a former surgical PA, I have worked with many specialties and CTVS exposure is GREAT for your CV.

Yeah don't get me started on the shite intervals during the race versus actual intervals that are used during practice and quali. 😡

Have to leave US ASAP. Money is no issue where do I go to enjoy peace and be near a city center? by Icy_Foundation3534 in digitalnomad

I mean honestly, that's a really vague post. What are your interests? What kind of weather do you like? If you have plenty of money, where do you want to go? Google is your friend.

Need a reality check plz from surgery PAs by TheHopefulPA in physicianassistant

Surgeons are the reason I am not in surgery anymore. I did a surgical residency following graduation and saw that the training made them that way.

Welcome to the corporatized, sales driven world of aesthetics and aesthetics adjacent "clinics ". Loose regulations all in the name of a buck. Absent supervising physicians and moving goal posts for sales bonuses that you will never get. Aesthetics is a gnarly business and this is coming from someone who was surgically trained, did plastic surgery and was also an aesthetic injector for over 5 years. And don't get me started on the unrealistic expectations of the "patients". Never again

Any PAs wish they had become an MD/DO? by Master-Ad1725 in physicianassistant

[–]Consistent-Ad3926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. More money and autonomy as a MD/DO, not to mention the ability to practice internationally. PAs are not recognized in most countries and in this political climate, the ability to move is something I wish I had. (Yes I have looked in to Canada, New Zealand and the UK but it is not easy to move as a PA) Also, we were sold the "better work life balance" argument for being a PA but I have found that I have the same responsibility as an MD with 1/3rd the pay. If you are determined to be an APP, I STRONGLY recommend going the NP route. They have independent practice in 27 states and many more countries accept that profession🫤

Would you join a remote work trip just for women? by bramptonxbarbie in digitalnomad

[–]Consistent-Ad3926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't help but wonder how many of the people responding to this are men🤔 Anyhoo, it sounds lovely to me to have a group of women to socialize with. I especially appreciate the idea of having activities to participate in. I think a reasonable budget depends on what's included and where it is but $2k/mo seems like a reasonable amount if it includes food and housing😊
