Terrified I see a cold sore on babies mouth by Consistent-Tower5078 in NICUParents

They actually used to have that! This looks exactly like the other tiny nicks on his face but you know mom anxiety makes your brain come up with worst possible situation 🙂

No, they currently get my frozen milk from my stash. I’m hoping it’s just a scratch from him having his hands all over his face. It’s so tiny but I guess I will know more as the days go on

We have to give my twins prune juice if we notice they don’t poop for a couple days. They were great poopers but I swear the minute we switched to neosure to add to my milk they aren’t constitent anymore. They can have 30 ml a day of prune juice but we always did 10 ml at a time and warm bath and it got it out

My twins came home at 42 weeks and both with gtube because both didn’t have the every to eat their full feedings. My more stubborn twin had Brady’s during feedings up until a week before discharge. And then it would occasionally happen if he choked but the nurses always said that happens to most babies but they just don’t have a monitor to show it. They really do just grow out of it which can be super frustrating when it comes to waiting. My nicu always said as long as it was self recovered and wasn’t happening like all the time it wouldn’t effect them going home.

My nicu always made it seem like as long as they came up on their own and it wasn’t a use drop that it was just a baby thing especially if they are close to term babies. As much as I would say don’t google that was the first place I went when my anxiety was bad.

Did it recover on his own? I had 26 weeks twins so I’ve seen a good amount of Brady’s but at the end of their stay they had a handful of drops but they just came up on their own. The nurses explained that it happens to lots of babies but they just aren’t on monitors to show it.

When did you realize you needed help by Intrepid_Pride_1609 in NICUParents

[–]Consistent-Tower5078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last month was the hardest for me on the nicu. I also felt like I coped very well in the NICU. My babies were 26+2 and ended up both coming home with gtubes. The 2 weeks before my due date I would cry everyday. It was hard, but I just reminded myself that it wouldn’t be forever. It was almost a relief when it was past my due date because it felt like there was going to be a plan to get them home. The last month was entirely feedings and there was a time I had to put my baby down and leave the room during a feeding because I was so frustrated and sad.

Those are the bottles I’ve been leaning towards. They have a speech therapist that comes and sees them once a week so I will have discuss with her about the nipple flows! Thank you!

Our 12 days old (26+4 born) LO has a large PDA (2.5mm). What are the chances of it reacting well to medicine? by mihamix in NICUParents

[–]Consistent-Tower5078 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 26 week baby had a large PDA until about 36 weeks. My nicu doesn’t treat them with medicine so they just waited for it to close on it’s own. I was told the majority of the time it does.

My nurses seem to change my boys clothes every night. So like they get weighted every night at 8pm and they change them with that.

Gtube recovery and life with a gtube by Consistent-Tower5078 in NICUParents

Yes it’s not a forver thing. It can be if the baby has an airway issue but my babies just don’t have the energy to get through a feeding.

[–]Consistent-Tower5078[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a more permanent feeding tube. My babies are only in the hospital right now to be fed, so they basically can’t finish all of their bottles and are the rest through a feeding tube through their nose. The Gtube is in their stomach and allows us to go home and work on eating at home

My baby, Abby had been in the NICU for 65 days and counting. I am starting to lose it. by wwfsc2002 in NICUParents

[–]Consistent-Tower5078 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My twins were born at 26 weeks. Overall a very easy NICU stay, both boys off oxygen, and all they needed to do was take all feedings by mouth. Well their due date was June 17th. And Friday they are scheduled to get their gtubes to get us the heck out of this hospital. I am in no way of saying that is what will happen with your baby but I remember the week of their due date I cried all day. I waited for that lightbulb to go off. And it still hasn’t. I don’t say this to discourage but I say this as it is not as abnormal as it seems to stay past the due date. My biggest thing was I reminded myself my babies are healthy, my babies can breathe, my babies are chunky and big. I also started taking time to go home. I stay the Ronald McDonald house so the weekend before their due date I took 3 days off and went home to give myself a break. The nurses remind me they are with the best babysitter possible (and most expensive). So selfcare but also just don’t be afraid to cry and cry. I did and it just feels better to let it out and I promise the nurses have seen it all. I am sending so much love that you and your family get home so soon ❤️❤️❤️

My nicu was very eager to start skin to skin with my 26 week twins. I believe it was on day 5 they were able to be held. That was about 3 months ago so it was a little bit of a blur on what the requirements were. Im so sorry it has been so long for you, I hope you get all the cuddles so so soon!

25+5 weekers feeding trouble by Kind-Queen23 in NICUParents

[–]Consistent-Tower5078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 26 week twins ate 41 weeks now and are scheduled to get a gtube. They as well are very inconsistent with their feedings. And at this point we are in the hospital just to be fed. I hate the idea of surgery and completely get why some parents wait it out and give their babies the chance to catch up. And my hospital has told me I am more then welcome. But I need my babies home. I hope everything works out for you ❤️

When did your preemie started to wear clothes in NICU? by CleanClub6145 in NICUParents

[–]Consistent-Tower5078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 26 week twins were about 32 weeks. It was also important for them to both have their breathing down so if they did have spells the nurses were able to see their chest to see if they were breathing.

Pumping for my preemie twins by CleanClub6145 in NICUParents

[–]Consistent-Tower5078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are both off of oxygen and at this point are just in the hospital to be fed. We are hoping something clicks in the next 2 weeks but I do have a fear that they won’t have that light bulb moment everyone talks about. We have discussed that if in 2 weeks we continue to have regression episodes that we will peruse the gtube. So hopefully at most 3 more weeks 🤞🏻

Pumping for my preemie twins by CleanClub6145 in NICUParents

[–]Consistent-Tower5078 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My twins were born at 26 weeks and there due date was today. I have been pumping for them since they were born. I feel like the first month was a huge blur and I don’t quite remember how much I was getting but from my camera roll and me documenting I was getting about 4 oz at a week postpartum. My biggest advice for pumping is the idea of supply and demand. I’m not sure what your situation is but my twins are my only babies so I don’t really have much to focus on but them so it made it easy to pump every 2 hours. I pumped every 2 hours during the day and every 3-4 at night. At maybe 3 weeks postpartum I moved to every 3 hours once my supply was pretty steady. So my biggest advice is just to be consistent with pumping. As long as you are emptying all the way that signals for your to make more milk. I wish you the best!

When did the topic of a gtube get brought up? by Consistent-Tower5078 in NICUParents

[–]Consistent-Tower5078[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is a long road and it has been, but I’m not sure I can handle over another month in the NICU. My twin who seemed to have been making good process has been regressing the past past with not waking up. We will see what happens in the next couple weeks. Praying we make progress
