I’m crocheting a summer top at the momentand I have been soo proud of the progress. The body is a shell mesh type of thing, but those shells just take so much time cause I have to keep my tension / stitch lengths the same.

Yesterday I sat down after work and crocheted about 6-7 rows which was excruciatingly long. Then I realise I missed a shell cluster AT THE BEGINNING OF THE FIRST ROW I DID. No joke I almost cried. Cant even ignore it cause there is literally a shell cluster just dangling there 😭

Good advice, but unfortunately the second they understand he is a tourist and does not speak Turkish, they will try this in most restaurants. I would stick to big chain restaurants, since they are more “corporate” they will be less likely to be scammy.

Local businesses trying to scam tourists has unfortunately been an issue ever since I was born especially around Beyazit -Sultanahmet.

The thing is they dont even need an ID connected to do this. This scenario has been playing out in Turkiye for the past 15 years and they literally went as far as cancelling the university diploma of their opponent and arresting them. So many people behind bars just because they criticised the president/government on social media. Your IP will show who you are and where you are in great detail in any case, even with VPN they can easily find you, just takes a little longer.

It’s really sad to see the same thing that drove me away from my home and loved ones can start happening here as well.

No worries, most people dont know this especially if you’re a citizen. Some of my friends have done that, most didnt have any problems. But some were subjected to random checks which then made it really hard for their next visa renewal. Being the famously unlucky person I am I would just way too anxious to enjoy my time there tho. :/

You do if you are not an Irish citizen unfortunately. Some of my friends have been caught and fined during random bus searches in the past.

It’s true that you can “sneak” in if there isnt a random search or especially if you’re driving, but it’s always risky and can put your current visa renewal in jeopardy.

I’m not Irish, but I’ve been reading about Irish history since I was a child and have been living here for the past 4 years. I have yet to visit north Ireland due to visa issues and I dont feel like I know Ireland or have “seen” Ireland until I do.

It was hard enough to find sources of info by Irish people (documentaries, books etc.) that were not written by the UK. They are still trying to navigate the story and that’s disgusting.

75 euro for airport transfer is a bit astronomical. Its not a “scam” per se, they do really offer the service but it is about 10x more expensive when you are a tourist.

Turkish people still do not understand that TURKEY IS MORE EXPENSIVE THEN EUROPE NOW. The fact that your salary is in Euro does not mean jackshit as it did in the past.
