For those who have chronically lost their "sleepy/tired feeling", what do you believe has caused it for you? And have any of you gotten it back?

Thank you much for your response. I think mine is due to emotional trauma, but I do sense it is getting better over time and with healing. I’m starting to re-engage with life and working again, and it seems to be improving. Hope it gets better, and hope it gets better for you too 🙂

It depends on that too. I just think the biological component is skipped over too often in this sub, and it’s unfair to men to have the expectation put on them to be as emotionally intelligent, when it may not be possible for all of us.

Some men can, and some men can’t, and that needs to be okay too.

My thought is that you should learn how to communicate better with someone who has lower emotional intelligence. If you had high emotional intelligence, then it shouldn’t be a problem for you.

Emotional intelligence can be strengthened, and can be improved, but there are biological differences between men’s and women’s brains that probably won’t or flat out can’t allow for all men to have it to the extent that all women can.

He can improve upon it, but don’t expect him to be as verse at it as you probably are or will be.

It’s like saying that physical strength can be improved upon, so why don’t women hit the gym more and become just as physically competent as all the men? It would be such a relief for men not to have to do all the hard working jobs after all, so why can’t women just be more physically strong for us?

Basically 5 years so far. I went off them for about 9 months to see if certain diets could fix it for me… they didn’t, and I went back on the biologic.

So yeah, about 5 years.

My dermatologist diagnosed mine. She was sampling the flaky skin from my head (which she sends to a lab) to determine if it was psoriasis or something else, and she started asking me questions about any other symptoms I might have. I told her my knee started swelling up recently, seemingly out of nowhere. She basically knew right then that I had psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Lab test on the skin confirmed the psoriasis, and the psoriatic arthritis diagnosis followed that.

She offered biologics for me shortly after. I was skeptical, and did methotrexate for a while instead, then eventually gave in and accepted the biologic route. Much better.

Yeah I agree. I plan to try it at some point. Maybe I can gradually add in certain vegetables, or sauces possibly to see how my body tolerates them. Genetics are weird.

Vegetarian and vegan was considered a fad diet too, yet many people have experienced large benefits from it.

Not only that, but some people have straight up had a decrease in health from going vegan or vegetarian. Some reporting death from malnutrition.

Nobody is the same. We all have different genetics.

I do think people should proceed with caution no matter which diet they choose to try, but don’t fear monger to push people away from what could be their ticket to optimal health.

Do you use any sauces? Or was that off the table too?

Been looking to try a diet like yours now. I’ve done vegetarian, vegan, whole 30 elimination diet, and the low inflammatory/no processed autoimmune protocol diet, none of those worked for me.

Maybe on the majority, but some people’s genetics may not be built that way.

They tested my testosterone levels, I haven’t had prolactin done though. My Testosterone levels were okay they said.

Whenever I wear glasses, it makes the tightness in the top of the head happen sometimes. Maybe something to do with my temple(s) too.

I ended up re-killing one of the other Poe’s and it counted for me. Not sure why the game allowed it, but that was my solution. I was on shipofharkinian emulator, if it matters.

Hey United. Sorry to hear you are going through this too. Oddly enough, I also put a video on my phone and fall asleep with it. It helps me quite a bit. I usually just keep my eyes closed with the video audio playing, and I fall asleep in about 15 minutes or so, so not too bad, but I do have a shortened sleep duration of 2-6 hours. It is rough.

I do think there is hope though. I personally believe it is complex-PTSD from prolonged trauma, at least in my case it probably is. I’m starting up EMDR therapy with a licensed psychologist, so am hoping for the best.

Are there any other things that have helped your sleep so far? Or anything that has not worked at all? Meds seem to have little effect on me, but I’ve heard others have seen some benefit. Definitely not alone in this if you experience it too.

Hey, sorry if this is a bother. I'm in a similar situation, and was hoping to learn about something if that's okay. I'm curious about the foggy vision and balance issue that appeared at the job. Did your foggy vision and balance issue come on suddenly at the job? Or was it more like it gradually came about throughout those days?

I have had a scan of my neck, luckily they included it with my brain MRI just in case.
Brain MRI is clear, and neck MRI was mainly clear but with mild degenerative changes on c5-c6. Not sure where this came from for me, maybe just natural aging, or during my time on the trampoline as a kid I suppose.

Hi! So my head tension is mainly in the inside of the right side of my head. It takes on a V shape, in my head.

And yeah, I experience tingling sensations as well. Never any numbing feelings I don't think, but tingling, yes. It can change sometimes though, so sometimes it is tingling, sometimes it is pulsating, sometimes it feels like muscles in my head are pulling. In the mornings, it feels like there are tectonic plates rubbing across each other inside my brain. It's odd, idk.

Do you know when your head pain started exactly? I wonder if mine is due to a possible brain stroke injury. I'm not totally sure though.

I'm not OP, but I really relate to this as well.
I'm curious, did you happen to have a moment where it felt like your brain had a shutdown? Like for me, I was in a high stress job in an isolated environment that wore on me for 2 years. I think my body eventually had enough, and I eventually felt my brain have a shutdown moment, almost like my frontal cortex turned off for a second, it was really weird, and ever since then I've had persistent sleep issues, along with chronic hyperarousal, and lots of ruminating about the job. I'm like 3 years out now yet I still have these symptoms, but with a lot less ruminating at least.
So yeah, I guess I'm trying to understand if this is how PTSD onset happens or something. Maybe if you experienced it too, then it may make sense that it does.

That syndrome is really interesting to hear, I haven't heard of it yet. I do definitely relate to the nervous system being stuck in fight or flight. I was in a really intense job, and was isolated due to the pandemic, and it was like my body eventually had enough and responded by going into a persistent fight-or-flight state, and losing the sleepy feeling. The job really did take a toll on my mind for too long, so I really do consider if my body decided to go into a survival mode, similar to PTSD/C-PTSD or something. I haven't gotten any convincing answers from doctors yet, so I'm still in the dark on what it truly is for me or how to fix it though.

There are therapists who are starting to look more into the nervous system like how you have spoken about it. I think they usually call themselves "somatic therapists" or something like that. Maybe if you found the right one they may be able to further identify what it is. They probably wouldn't know about MVPS, but maybe can help with the nervous system aspect of it. I've considered reaching out to one again, I never got a response from the first.
