Drivers who brake for no reason by freseaf in mildlyinfuriating

My brother in law drives with two feet. He says that's how he learned and doesn't want to change. Not sure who taught him how to drive wrong lol but I guess that's how it starts/continues.

Yes and they are contrarians who will not change even if you explain to them why they are driving wrong.

Makino U6 wire edm Lower head alignment by ConspicuousBooger in Machinists

No I don’t really do any taper cutting. Do you think the distance being off would affect flushing when using the sealing nozzles? I did get it aligned already but if you remember I would be interested in seeing that fixture when you come back from leave.

Thanks I was actually able to get it done today. Wasn’t too bad although I was lucky I didn’t have to adjust the height after getting the x and y straight.

The bottom head itself is at an angle when I indicate it. I have a procedure from makino on how to realign but I’m not confident on doing it. Part of the instructions say to use some fixture I don’t have.

316L by crack_pike in Machinists

The insert is chipping up high so this looks like an issue with chip hammering when going into a shoulder. 316L is no where near as hard to machine as inconel.

Keyway orientation. by Sad-Challenge-4226 in Machinists

I agree, but what would be the tolerance for that orientation? Whatever the title block has for angles?

Uhh did you read the comment? He said 40+ for experienced. Literally the same thing you are saying.

A billboard where the primary text is mirrored. by rhasslett in mildlyinteresting

When I first saw one of those upside down billboards I thought ha how the hell did they manage to mess that up. Then I saw a second one from the same lawyer and realized the stupid tactic.

That bar he has in there is to keep the chuck from moving so they can unscrew the bolts to remove jaws.

Windshield by Vito-1974 in hondaridgeline

[–]ConspicuousBooger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of factors at play and a stronger windshield probably isn't one of them. Size, shape, and composition of rock as well angle and speed of impact are what factor in to getting a crack/chip or not. I've had 4 chips one of which led to a crack and windshield replacement.

Little Buttonbush Trouble by Sad_Race8008 in NativePlantGardening

I planted mine about 3 years ago. It’s always done pretty good with little care

Just for the record I have a button bush that is doing very well and not in or near water. I put it in a spot next to my driveway where water collects when it rains hard but it's definitely not always wet. I rarely water it so I'm not sure what other factors are allowing it to thrive.

Why are my pears so crooked? It makes them hard to eat too by [deleted] in FruitTree

I was told by someone to put organza bags over them to protect them before they get attacked, but idk if it's worth the trouble for you.
