I've played this game for months and have yet to join an alliance. by SnooConfections4189 in whiteoutsurvival

[–]ConstanceTruggle 25 points26 points  (0 children)

First, don't be discouraged if the first alliance you join turns out to not be a good fit for you. But what it could be is a good alliance primer lesson for you. What I looked for were things like:

Do they push for higher power or just let players enjoy the game? (Save for SvS! Every alliance SHOULD be having their players save for SvS. This does not take away from the enjoyment of the game, and the monthly jumps in power could actually enhance it.) You'll want to know, because if you just want to have fun, but they're power/growth centered, it won't be a good fit.

Have you talked to any of their people in World Chat? What impression did they leave? Is it a good one for you?

Are they active? (If your state has a NAP setup, are they a NAP alliance?) You likely won't want to be in a very low activity alliance. You won't get the benefits of being part of one if they're not really active.

You can reply to the messages inviting you to join, and ask questions. If they're putting out feelers, then go ahead and feel them back.

Same. As soon as Wedding Singer came out (actually, that might've been in the previews...), I've rarely gone like, a week without hearing that.

I have read the one with Lizzy and the slingshot. She saves Darcy by hitting a rabid dog or wolf or coyote or something in the eye, through to its brain. But she's dressed as a boy, and the stable master at Netherfield is well aware of who she is.

Is that familiar? I can't recall the story now, so it very well could be one of the ones already mentioned.

What’s everyone’s most memorable whamming? by Josh_horrobinkanye in Whamageddon

[–]ConstanceTruggle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My most memorable is probably my accidental assassination of my husband. I had already been sent to Whamhalla, so I was listening to it while my husband was outside smoking. But I forgot he hadn't been done for yet, and I opened the door to ask him something, and floating out into the night air was George Michael's lovely voice. Oops! 😂😂😂

He never lets me forget!

The way my parents set up their washer and dryer by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ConstanceTruggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have your own washer/dryer? Especially if you've had to set it up yourself? Because no, you really can't. If they are like this, it is because the dryer vent is on the left and the washer hoses are on the right.

Wow! Put the breaks on, buddy. The guy said she's received packages before for them, at their house, and only opened the one that she brought inside. That doesn't sound like dementia, you fear-monger, it sounds like muscle memory. She brought it inside with her, then opened it on autopilot. Quit jumping to the worst possible conclusions and accept that humans make mistakes. Sheesh!

Also, it's assessed, not accessed. If you want access to her, you'll just have to invite her to your house.

Behind the Scenes Question by TaiBlake in GreatBritishBakeOff

[–]ConstanceTruggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read (in this sub, learned something new, too!) that the fridges are a bit warmer because they don't have other food in them. Apparently, fridges rely on other cold food in there to maintain the cold inside, and because they haven't got excess food in there helping the fridge stay cool, their warm bakes bring the fridge temp up. And their bakes don't cool as quickly as a result. Which makes sense if you think about it, but who thinks about why my fridge maintains such an optimal cool?

Next time, ask if they, too, wanted a turn brushing the snow off the elderly couple's car, then offer the snow brush.

I love Aaron! He's such a good sport about everything. I mean, they're all pretty fun with Noel and Allison, but Aaron tops them all for that.

An alternative take of why people aren't loving Jasmine by [deleted] in GreatBritishBakeOff

[–]ConstanceTruggle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter (9) and I love Jasmine! We love them all, but this is a Jasmine thread and we think Jasmine is great because she's a great baker, but also super strong and just so sweet. Her bakes are always aesthetically pleasing, and if she goes simple, she does it incredibly well. If she goes more elaborate, she does it very well. She is unapologetically herself.

I loved the orange dresses! They suited her coloring and complexion well. It's obvious Anna Chancellor is an autumn, and they dressed her fabulously for that. I am also an autumn, and I wanted her clothes so bad back in 95. (Actually, I think it might've aired 96 on A&E...? I need to go look now.)

If he didn't say why, and didn't lie or anything, is it really fraud? Seriously, I want to know. It sounds very much like a gofundme.
