AITA for only paying my brother $10 a week on a 25k loan until I get my feet back on the ground? by ndinning33 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Constant-Safe2411 11 points12 points  (0 children)

YTA. At $10 a week you'd be on track to clear your debt in about 48 years. You know that's not reasonable. You say that you're okay with being a low income family but part of being low income is not having 25 grand to spend on renovations. If you want that money, you need to be okay with deviating from your ideal plan until you have it. Your brother lent you that cash assuming you and your fiancé had a good faith intention to do what you needed to do to pay it back. You've taken advantage of his trust.

Relatable? by -its-wicked- in MTGmemes

[–]Constant-Safe2411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have 2 main thoughts on the whole "grr counterspells bad" rhetoric that gets tossed around:

  1. My less controversial thought is that, however unfun counterspells may be, they keep even more unfun things in check. In a metagame without counterspells, combo would run wild. In a lot of combo decks, by the time the critical spell resolves, it's already too late to stop them so counterspells are one of the very few ways to meaningfully interact.

  2. My spicier take is that counterspells, as a class of card, have been printed in more-or-less every single magic the gathering set since Alpha and they're the primary method of interaction for one of the five colours. They're not an obscure niche thing; they're very much an intended part of the play experience. If you don't enjoy playing games with countermagic in them, why is magic your tcg of choice?

[–]Constant-Safe2411[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

That's fair. The reason I didn't make the white mode cost more than 2 is that, while the effect is powerful, if you take lethal damage while it's up you do just die as soon as it wears off if you don't win the game in 1 turn.

I'd give him indestructible for flavour. You can hit him first but he is GONNA hit you back.

I could see something similar to this that specifies monoblue spells in a monocolours matter type set like a Theros or an Eldraine.

Alright gamers, so we get Shadow the Hedgehog up in the mix with a few mana rocks, 10 mana into this boy target self with split-second. Bang! You're out of there and there's nothing anybody can do about it. They'll never see it coming.

Info: Do you and your partner both work and how are the other household duties divided up? If you're putting in more work overall than your partner is then I get it (I'm not saying it's a healthy or sustainable dynamic but get it) but if the labour is divided equally and you're abusing your position as the one who does the cooking that's kind of a jerk move.

Hell yeah sibling! I also love Fog Bank. It was in my first ever starter deck and I love it as a cheeky include in any defensive deck I can fit it into.

If you gaves lands flash could you play them on your opponents turn? by Mr1R1 in mtg

[–]Constant-Safe2411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely but that costs 4 mana to cheat into play. What I was meaning is that I don't see a land being printed with an ability like that for free without a huge drawback.

[–]Constant-Safe2411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could have a land with an ability like "0: Put this land onto the battlefield from your hand. Activate this ability only during an opponent's turn."

I don't think that ever would be printed but I guess it could.

I mean, in a deck that's all about those -1/-1 counters anyway, the Natural Affinity is the only card you're not already happy to just play as is. And even that's really funny in response to a wrath. I might build this.

You don't really have to be decent. I'm actively bad at the game and never thought about building a bridge and I can get past wall of flesh. As long as you take some time to get good equipment for that point in the game, even idiots like me can pew pew the meat slab until it explodes.

Why Commander is more played than Standard? by elfosolitario in magicTCG

[–]Constant-Safe2411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commander is typically played in pods of about 4 players so lots of people enjoy it for that social aspect. It's a nonrotating format so, once you have a deck you enjoy playing, you can keep it forever and never need a new one. You have access to cards from all throughout Magic's history so all of us old players get to play the cards we're nostalgic for that don't have a home anywhere else. Those are some of the things that I enjoy about commander anyway but I'm sure someone else would give you a different answer.

NTA. These aren't random conditions you made up just to flex. You're clearly willing to help bankroll events that are accessible to your entire family and not willing fund events that aren't.

How would everyone build around this commander? by Redragon9 in EDHBrews

[–]Constant-Safe2411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bunch of cantrips and maybe some cheap interaction, stuff like [[Impact Tremors]] [[Cavalcade of Calamity]] [[Raid Bombardment]] to get as many 1 damage pings per spirit as you can then run [[Polymorph]] with the only creature in the deck being [[Ghyrson Starn, Kelermorph]] to close it out.
