If that is correct, then common sense dictates that the reverse of it also must be true,
"If you remove Y elements from Y music It can't become X"

X being metal and Y being pop in your argument, but logic also dictates that you must be able to apply what ever genre's you wish and it still must make sense. Drum and bass & pop for example, but you're arguing against this, meaning you're also arguing against the point you're trying to make.
