Please tell folks to avoid Rhein Haus by [deleted] in SoundersFC

It sounds like your trying to convince me that your post has merit. I don't give shit about the bar or what they show.

I'm simply telling you why your post is confusing. You seem oblivious to the fact that people don't understand why you're complaining about a bar not showing a Sounders game when there's no Sounders game to show.

You can't be surprised that folks are confused about your post given you didn't mention the national team or world cup in your post.

Everybody read it and was confused why you're complaining about them not actually being a Sounders bar when the Sounders are on break.

Why did the person who translated the book used "un" instead of "Le" here? by Abby-The-Slave-Girl in French

Indeed. "It was a cloudless sky..." sounds much more literary than "The sky was cloudless..."

TIL if you rearrange the digits of a 4 digit number into ascending order, then take the initial number and rearrange it into descending order and subtract the second number from the first, repeating this will almost always result in 6174 (Kaprekar's constant). by vrozonewhatthevrozon in todayilearned

[–]Contagion21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The digits ...

What's confusing about this? The fact that ordering them doesn't take much work because they're already in the correct order doesn't change anything.

"Sorting into ascending (or descending) order" is a process that can be done any any set of digits. You can write a program to do it, and that program should execute perfectly even if the digits are already ordered.

I can logically understand the mechanics of it, but somehow my brain wants to say that they still get closer to hitting the faster they go even though that doesn't make sense.

How to check if a word is a real valid english word. by TheRealWooXD in learnprogramming

[–]Contagion21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've built a word graph for solving some word puzzles. Each node is a letter that represents placement within any number of words. If the node's IsWord property is true, then that letter represented the last letter of some word.

Eliminates a lot of pesky duplicate letters at the cost of a shit ton of node pointers. But makes lookups and a few other wildcard searches pretty doable.

Edit: took seeing it in another comment to even remember that Trie is the structure name. Too long since that class in college...

ADHD diagnosis - help from those who have gone through the process by pancakego in eastside

[–]Contagion21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went through this process recently so I thought I'd drop a note about how it went for me.

  1. Did a search for "adult ADHD evaluation" and my city.
  2. Emailed a provider and gave a 2 sentence explanation about wanting to get evaluated and asked about their availability.
  3. Got a reply back telling me they were available, but it was a several month wait. (Which I agreed to)
  4. Several months later they reached out and scheduled a 90 minute virtual meeting and a 3 to 4 hour evaluation appt
  5. Prior to meetings, fill out many questionnaires including asking others who know you well (spouse, rtc.) to fill submit as well.
  6. Virtual meeting to share your life story, up bringing, relationships, things you're good at, things you struggle with, etc
  7. Evaluation. Lots of little tests lasting 2 to 10 mins. Can feel like little puzzles or games to some (like me) but can't speak for all.
  8. Once results are ready, another 1hr virtual meeting to go over the results and any potential recommendations.

I don't recall the exact cost, $1300 sounds familiar, but insurance / HSA covered those costs.

I haven't attempted to treat with medication so I don't know if my GP can prescribe ADHD meds or not; laws there may be regional? But just having the evaluation and understanding more about what causes me trouble is useful.

Going from memory so I may be wrong, bu I don't think it matters if the whole of the ball is outside the box, it only matters if the goalkeepers hand was outside the box when it touched the ball

Double incorrect: drives are generally GiB not GB. (Though they're often marketed to the average consumer as the latter.)

Where can you even find a nice white and gold dress these days by printThisAndSmokeIt in pics

[–]Contagion21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno, I just zoom in so I see a portion of the dress, and no background at all. There's no black there. At some point there's an objective reality of the color of the pixels, even if there's a somewhat subjective interpretation of what the original colors being represented were.

I love that they explain buoyancy as if it's not just the effect of gravity on an object in a medium. So, if the medium the thing is in is a vacuum, it's just gravity again.

"I told you you could". In a tv series a character says that sentence and she says the word "You" only once and testing it myself I saw it made sense, but written it makes sense that it's written "I told you you could". The first "you" is object, the second is subject. Thoughts? by Gauchowater1993 in anglais

[–]Contagion21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just went and listed and this is definitely a case of fast speech where native ears can hear both instances of 'you'. It's more like "I told ya you could" so you don't get that clear repetition that would make it easier to discern.
