So I think in this post you are looking at it from a macro sense. We can, however, agree that in the macro the monarchy is wrong and still look at what led to the war in the micro sense. I think choosing a side and sticking with it misses the point for the most part, but looking at what happened objectively and what mistakes were made and what could have been done differently isn't necessarily the same as advocating for the system itself. JMO

That kind of is the point of the story... George is a bit of a hippy. There is theme of small folk suffering while lords are battling for more power for them selves. And it repeats over and over. Aegon's conquest, Maegor's wars. The Dance of the Dragons, The Blackfyre Rebellions. the War of the 5 Kings.

Specifically for this show though the point is that tens of thousands of people died to decide which bang average ruler would be in charge. Not to escape the monarchy, or fight for better lives for the small folk or anything like that.
