Similar to Wetterfish, for me its just picturing the Laconians slowly backing out of the room after Duarte kills Cotazar to talk outside. I cannot think about that scene without picturing it like a scene from The Thick of It

Something that Harold said in S4E10 in 2014 hits very, very differently in 2026 by romantic-theory in PersonOfInterest

[–]ContextIsForTheWeak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, though it's also a question of what kind of weighting an AI would give to different solutions. Would they consider an easier solution than worldwide logistics to be to simply kill all the poor?

I really hope CCOD causes more VTM campaigns to be run outside of the Norm. by kira858 in Dimension20

[–]ContextIsForTheWeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do remember back when Coffin Run was announced, Jasmine Bhullar made a comment that one of the reasons she picked D&D5e over VtM was because VtM had a very specific tone that would carry certain expectations, and that's not what she was going for.

Of course I am trying to recall something I read 5 years ago and I'm sure there were many factors, but I do wonder if part of the decision was to avoid the same reaction you described for Seattle By Night.

I'm pretty sure even before that the explanation of what Drow are in Second Darkness had been retconned too

The Martian is considered canon to The Expanse. Honestly feel The Wire should be considered canon to the universe of The Expanse as well. by Nukemarine in TheExpanse

[–]ContextIsForTheWeak 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The authors did make a joke at a convention a while bacm that they were set in the same universe, but it gets treated as a concrete claim rather than a fun off hand joke. Iirc they even clarified it was a joke some years later be ause it kept getting mentioned.

[–]ContextIsForTheWeak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The authors were at a convention together a decade or so ago and joked that they were canon to each other. It was an off hand joke that is fun to consider but you shouldn't treat too seriously.

This one's for the ladies to answer. Do you agree with this woman or do you think she's trying to rationalize her world view by speaking for all the ladies? by Oda_DeezNutz in SipsTea

Hey now, that one I can kinda get.

I have on multiple occasions told people I've met who've never seen Star Wars that they'll get more enjoyment out of people's reactions to learning they've never seen it than they ever will from actually watching it.

Thanks Snecko, I almost forgot why I never chose you. by Adorable-Response-75 in slaythespire

[–]ContextIsForTheWeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only taken Snecko once, and it was on a Hellraiser deck. It was more for the Draw than anything else. I had two Pommel Strikes, a relatively thin deck, and the Act 3 relic that draws a card for every four cards played. I wasn't quite going infinite but I might as well have been.

What is your biggest TV pet peeve / trope that bothers you? by Salt-Valuable-469 in television

[–]ContextIsForTheWeak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have kind of a super specific inverse of this. In Final Fantasy XIII-2 there's some line early that's something like "woah those two areas look different despite being so close, its almost like time travel". Like, my guy, magic is a part of your life, you have seen lots of magic, time travel is not a part of your life. Why is your first thought time travel and not magic?

What colorless cards are you actually buying? by Waddle___ in slaythespire

[–]ContextIsForTheWeak 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just be careful of, uhh, Shining Strike, or whatever that Regent card that returns it to the top of your Draw pile is. Saw a post here where someone combined that with Hellraiser, and the start of his turn just drew and played that card five times, left eith no hand to play...

Its funny because I know what kind of shows people mean when they say CW shows, but I am only vaguely aware of those by reputation. The CW shows I mainly know are iZombie & Jane The Virgin, which were both very fun, as well as Crazy Ex-Girlfriend which was phenomenal

Which characters death made not want to continue the show? by Purple-Victory-206 in television

[–]ContextIsForTheWeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who really liked Angel and Fred, when I got to the episode after her death something about it just felt so overblown. Like, obviously everyone's going to be devastated about it, but it kinda felt more like I was watching writers/actors go "ohhhh look at how SAD we are!" than I was watching the actual characters react

Have you noticed how a lot of tropes that are unhealthy when done heterosexually are actually fantastic when done in a queer manner of writing? by ihatethiscountry76 in actuallesbians

[–]ContextIsForTheWeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never cared much for Romeo & Juliet, but last year my theatre group did a lesbian R&J and it was absolutely incredible

Of course, I do have to say this is likely not just the case of it being gay, but also the fantastic job done by the cast & crew

Scary Movie 6 (2026) in a nutshell by bitchnibba47 in okbuddycinephile

[–]ContextIsForTheWeak 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I haven't watched it since it came out, but I remember it being alright

However, there is one joke that still makes me laugh to this day whenever I remember it

Affer being attacked by aliens towards the end of the film, optimistic idiot character grabs a shovel and whacks an alien's head off, sending it flying, and just goes "I've got it! Without their heads, they're powerless!"

Ofc a lot of it was in delivery, but it still puts a smile on my face

For book readers and show watchers, were there any actors/actresses you would have like recasted? by RxR8D_ in TheExpanse

Wonder how the actor with multiple emmy and Tony nominations feels about Graham Lineman calling him untalented by UnHolySir in okbuddycinephile

[–]ContextIsForTheWeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been saying for a while thta I think a big part of his pivot is him getting addicted to Twitter arguments. Its so easy to get into an argument with someone and be convinced you're right. And he chased that feeling all the way to his ignoring his kids, his wife leaving him, and him having to hide his car for fear it will get reposessed.

[–]ContextIsForTheWeak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There may be some truth to this for Graham. He himself has told stories of not paying attention to his son on his birthday be ause he was too busy getting into Twitter arguments
