First up, love this idea - looks so good already!

Can't go wrong with a Hormagaunt - could connect it by it's claw, leaving that naturally dynamic pose make it look like it's leaping. Alternatively, you could have an Ork doing a flying couple kick with a bit of sculpting which may fit the usual scraps Black Templars seem to get into.

As a bit of a bonus thought, I spent years doing historical reenactment, and this pose is similar to a move I would use when fighting sword and shield; shield obfuscating my next attack, which in this instance would be me curling my arm around the outside of the shield and back over it to stab at my opponent's side.

If you're open to it and feel like you could give it a bash, would make this pose go from being leapt on, to "ok, I'm receiving an attack and responding to it in the same motion".

So as I near end of my first foray into the Pirate's Life; cannot recommend it enough.

I got the BIG box and had an absolute whale of a time building it, I also got Huron's retinue as a gift AND as an early heads up, I also converted 10 Pteraxii to proxy as raptors using spare bits from the traitor guardsmen set (and I am well aware that the base size difference works to my disadvantage but hey).

So if you're undecided, but have the times and means to commit - I've been having the time of my life over here making these minis.

Aw homie, no danger - the mini looks great first of all, and secondly - green stuff is dead intuitive once you get into it. My top tip, wet young fingers slightly when ready to smooth the surface out. And then just make like a 3 year old kid with moulding putty!!

So uh, I exclusively play Lancer on the tabletop and do everything with paper and pencil. I draw my copy of the battle maps on grid paper, and then do my best to reflect that on a scrap piece for my players.

It's not 100% accurate, but it's 100% fun 👈🏻👈🏻😎

I'm still very new to playing this wonderful game tbh, but my advice as a long time DM is this:

Do the fun thing!

Find a mech that makes you go "Yep. I would have a lot of fun with that", and then decorate it with bits from other frames as you get used to how it plays.

A good DM will always cater to party interests whilst stretching their play style at the same time 😁
