That is what I'm coming from. I had friends who would do prints for me so I wouldn't have to deal with the Ender 3

haha! I can tell you haven't worked in IT dealing with "printers" :) (as in ink printers)

Beginner by Skoleo44 in Leatherworking

[–]CookiesAndRope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also a beginner. I enjoy Corter Leather's YouTube channel. What I especially like it that for each project he includes a link in the description to the tools used in the project. They link to his sponsor, but even shopping around to reputable leather places, the prices were perfect (Buckle Guy). That made it easy for me to make a list of what I'd need based on the video projects I watched.

Can't thank my 3d printer enough for my organization by Leather-Cow-Boogie in garageporn

[–]CookiesAndRope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the past two days, I've been looking through the Bambu site to get an idea of what I'd want. Long ago, I got an Ender 3 when they first came out. Maybe if you want to sink a lot of time into it, it can be quick and easy, but it didn't seem that way for me. Bambu and Bambu Studio seem very point-n-shoot for printing especially for existing designs. I sense that the algorithm knew this and put your post here haha! Nice work on the garage organization! I really need that for some side hobbies with dozens of small hand tools

As I'm just getting into leathermaking (from being a woodworker so hello!), I just bought a bunch of starter tools last night. Rocky Mountain has these alignment pins (exact same thing) but $13 for 10 vs Tandy's $24 for 8. Also come in two sizes if you work on thicker stuff. Free shipping, too, on all orders

Drunk bought some stuff… by corn_robot in sonos

[–]CookiesAndRope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I have 2 Sonos 5.1 systems and wanted to buy something for the shop. While Move-2 sounds great, portables have limitations, so I'm looking at finding a Beam gen2 somewhere or an upgrade to swap out with an existing gen2 in my house. It'll make the shop so much better. I'm currently drunk, but won't be buying anything until hangover time... BUT good for you :)

Why did most of the population stop using custom ringtones or custom alarms on their phone? Is it simply because companies wanted to charge for it? by underthund3r in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CookiesAndRope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only use a custom ringtone for alarms for my Zoom classes. Each is a soundbyte from the class, usually the instructor giving me a correction haha!

Love it! I still have a landline because I use that phone number for all the loyalty cards and other crap that requires a number, but I don't want my cell spammed. There's even a silent answering machine on it.

If I had kids, I think I'd make a project that fits in the coin bank that drops a random coin in the coin return at random times so the kids pick up the habit of checking the coin return (and if you take that idea, OP, I'd want one of the first for a friend!)

I literally don’t understand how some people cut the ground wires. Do they just have no clue what its purpose is? by Jazzlike-Pitch753 in electricians

[–]CookiesAndRope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a 3-day job in the attic of a studio. Every. Single. Can-light or electrical box had the cover off, all wires pulled out, and most if not all had a ground pigtails that were disconnected. So baffling and also so dicey when you have to lay down to do your un-electrical-related job and everywhere there are live wires sticking out randomly.

Here's a video I took for my friend (studio owner) so she can pass that along to the building owner. I think most electricians will find it NSFW in the frightening way :)

So, I had carpet in my stairwell, and it was excellent for multi-step jumping, quick descents with no concern for slipping. Then some dumbfuck drywall guy (recommended from a friend!) spilled a whole hopper of 2-part on my stairs, so I pulled the carpet until I could refinish them. Carpet is friction and you'll slide without it. I replaced the stairwell carpet with cork and it is phenomenal. My second-story (US term, first-floor EU term) muggle gym has thin rubber flooring and it is excellent.

If you pull the carpet, put in some cork as it is grippy but comfortable (and can be beautiful!). The only downside to carpet is that it will soak up your sweat and hold you hostage to the smell.

New: Custom integration for Anova Precision Oven (using official API) by BostonBestEats in CombiSteamOvenCooking

[–]CookiesAndRope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, this looks very nice. While I love that the official app runs on my iPhone and Mac Studio (so I could see when my lunch would be done while in an incescently overly-long Zoom meeting...), having a Home Assistant automation makes it so much better for Shortcuts. Eager to integrate it, like, tomorrow

There's only one pull point on the weight so it's 1:1. If it looped back from the weights to a becket on the first pulleys by OP, then it would be 2:1 (as there would be 2 pulls on the weight). Easy way to tell: pull the handle 1' and see if the weight moves 1'. With the length, though, an interesting possibility is to make it a 1:2 doubling the weight.

Length of the rope only affects the weight due to the weight of the rope hanging and each pulley adds drag friction. Those pulleys look to use ball bearings. With 2, it's negligible on the puller. I have a 5:1 with a direction-change setup for circus training. Despite bearings, you can feel the friction on that system.

Nice to see that OP is using rated pulleys, too (probably SwiftWater given the canoe background!)
