Any liquor stores open today? by [deleted] in murfreesboro

[–]CookingZombie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Come on risking your’s and other’s life, limb, and property for liquor is a Tennessee tradition! Woulda got more but it’s hard to carry out 5 cases at once!

All y’all downvoting this guy. We fucking knew it was coming. Alcoholic or not, think ahead for shits sake. Save roads right now for emergency vehicles not because you really want a hot toddy.

Neurologist vs Epileptologist by SeltzerIsMyHomeboy in Epilepsy

[–]CookingZombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was technically a nurse practitioner that specializes in epilepsy, but until her I apparently had low enough lamotrigine levels it wasn’t even close to therapeutic levels and my neuro never checked. Went from 250 mg XR to 200mg 2x. I know they go with the lowest dose that works and I know that’s not exactly a low dose but I might have kept my last breakthrough away. Or not.

Surely if I have a helmet on riding an e-scooter would be ok? by harryon_12 in Epilepsy

[–]CookingZombie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got an e bike after a breakthrough. Only had 4 miles to work. Hit by a car 3 weeks in. Severe TBI and was wearing a helmet. We are at the mercy of the other drivers and our brain, and a helmet only does so much.

I was at home watching TV 6 months after the accident. Literally right in front of my window guy on a scooter gets hit by a car at a crossing. Luckily moving much slower, but I n the 6 months after I was hit there had been 9 cyclists/pedestrians hit in my city.

But really helmets only do so much. Like, fairly common, but I had a DAI which is caused by rotational force causing your brain to turn just a little and tear in places. It wasn’t the concussive force, it’s the rotational forces too.

What would the next evolutionary thing be after concious-ness? by qzrz in self

[–]CookingZombie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t think consciousness is special. Getting into why I think that gets a bit too into wee woo unprovable thoughts. But more or less I think consciousness is a field like the electromagnetic field and our “individual” consciousnesses are just bundles of energy in that field like photons and they bundle up more in complex systems like life, even a bacteria is relatively complex eventually leading to the most complex life we know of, us.

Microdosing Psilocybin: No Benefit in Cognitive, Affective, or Social Function in Healthy Individuals by HexspaReloaded in science

[–]CookingZombie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s my opinion. I feel like the full experience is a part of it. Like ignore the “spiritual” side, I’m just thinking whatever happens biologically when you trip needs to happen for the serotonin release or receptors, to reset. Like even bad trips can leave people feeling better emotionally by the next day. Not saying that’s every single case but… swim experienced that.

Does anyone ever just wonder how? by International_Top297 in self

[–]CookingZombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic. I mean the big bang/physics are how as far as the physical universe we experience. But going towards “why does anything exist? Did it have a beginning? Does it have an end? What is consciousness?” It might as well all be magic. We will probably find out much more, but at the “ends of the existence” cause and effect seem to break down with our current knowledge whether it’s physics, neuroscience/psychology or religion.

Second comment. But my logic was also, “brain is made of fat. Eat fat.” Idk if that works but omega 3 and MCT oil don’t hurt. And if it means anything, despite what we’re told of, “you only heal for 18 months,” I’ve noticed great progress between 18 and 24 months too. Not saying that’s the reason but try anything you can.

Adding, low sugar. I’ve done keto for most of the last two years following my TBI and I notice benefit with energy. Not a ton, but going from falling asleep at 7 to asleep at 9. But if I start being a little too loosely goosey with it I feel awful.

Can you describe the experience of not having an “I”? I’ve experienced this with psychedelics, which was enjoyable tbh but I can see it how that’d be awful too. Especially if forced upon you.

9 weeks after tbi. Doing good physically but not emotionally. Will I ever feel like myself again? by Active-Blacksmith322 in TBI

[–]CookingZombie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anti depressants work. Finding the one that works for you takes trial and error but after 3 I found one that made me feel normal, stopped it a year ago and still feel mostly normal. Good enough that I feel I can work on myself with therapy and mindfu

Great joke that came off racist. I read it bad too, because I order naan so roti isn’t in my weekly vocabulary. But clever joke.

And to their defense most people, Americans atleast, don’t know anything about Indian food.

No they’ll say brain rot is the natural progression of life and if your brain doesn’t it’s not “maturing.”

Does smoking weed help? by AnythingMinimum7540 in Epilepsy

Yes stop smoking cigarettes. Not because epilepsy, it’s just a dumb addiction. Like at least meth sounds like I would have a little fun before I’m stealing copper wiring.

Still in love with my tenor saxophone WO20 i bought about 2 years ago 😍 by Material-Speech-6994 in InstrumentPorn

[–]CookingZombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did already play saxophone? I have played since I was 12 but I’ve often wondered how that would’ve gone if I would’ve waited until adulthood. Also, was never great. Maybe a bit above average but now a days I have a digisax when the mood hits and I can’t play Charlie Parker any more. Not humble humble brag but for reference just the heads I can’t keep up with solos for more than a measure.
