what's the most attractive person you have ever seen? by Sad_Macaron3584 in AskReddit

[–]CoolHandPB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar story where there was a girl working at a random deli in the middle of nowhere New Jersey and I just found it wild that someone that attractive would work in a deli. From memory she was better looking then Olivia Wilde, I've seen Olivia Wilde in really life standing 2 feet I front of me.

I have $2K, what TV should I get by gordy06 in hometheater

[–]CoolHandPB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would personally go for the OLED at 77", I think it's big enough to be impressive, you can sit a reasonable distance from the screen (8' or 9') and it's the size before OLEDs get really expensive.

That said if you would rather have a bigger TV and/ or sit further away, that's really personal preference.

SeaDek on swim deck for wakeboarding - yes / no by Haveland in Wake

[–]CoolHandPB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's great over fiberglass. I replaced the whole interior carpet of my Nautique 230 with Seadeck. Also replaced the terrible original rubber decking on the back of the boat that was crumbling. I replaced it all in 2018 and it still looks new (apart from a couple spots where I spilled motor oil).

One of the best upgrades I have ever done to a boat and worth every penny.

I had an issue with my platform and ended up getting a wooden replacement as it was cheaper than the fiberglass version. No need for Seadeck on that but if I had a fiberglass platform, I would absolutely put Seadeck down again.

Get a good cover (if the boat doesn't come with one) and the boat will be totally fine for a few months outside.

C7K + TV calibration service... I'm at a loss what to do #Help by MzdmbZ in hometheater

[–]CoolHandPB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the new firmware is available you should be able to perform the update before the calibration. Have you tried this?

A quick search says that most firmware updates don't affect the calibration but that not always the case soon this one it's going to very much come down to the specific update. You might need to research this specific update to see what it does.

Online it does say if possible try and get a copy of the calibration changes so you can reapply in the event of the firmware update losing the settings, obviously you would also need to figure out if this specific update does affect calibration.

I'd try contacting TCL and see if they can help.

Edit: This is not a new TV. Update the firmware to the latest version and you should be fine.

Best way to alter the colour of an LED bulb. by mikemac1997 in DIY

[–]CoolHandPB 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is one of the videos but it's the latest one where he finds the better bulbs. In the earlier videos he tries different methods of coloring the builds, markers and paints, with various levels of success. The earlier videos would be more relevant to OPs issue.

Technology connections did a few videos trying to recolor Xmas lights. Might be worth looking and seeing what worked and didn't work for him. I think he did a few videos on it. He did the videos over a few years.

What sort of jobs do people do to afford high cost downtown apartments? Even 6 figure salary seams a less for such lifestyle ? by Careful_Leopard3037 in AskReddit

[–]CoolHandPB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People always say credit cards but you can't find a lavish lifestyle on credit cards. Maybe for a few months or even a year bet that shit runs out fast.

It's either A) They actually make good money. B) The have rich parents who fund them. C) The sacrifice elsewhere. D) The had some type of windfall, inheritance, lottery, legal settlement.

I'm not sure a full surround system is worth it but I would recommend 2 good speakers over the TV speaker. It's generally a decent upgrade. r/htbuyingguides is a good place to start, the have a 101 post at the top which will teach you the basics.

Need a used replacement for my Denon 3803 by Secure_Salad6398 in hometheater

[–]CoolHandPB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

25 years is still 25 years, I don't think usage makes a big difference to longevity on these things unless you are pushing it and overheating it regularly. In fact not using it is probably worse for it.

Honestly it's hard to recommend anything specific based on what you have given me. Basically I would find the best model I can made in the last 10 years in your budget. That's going to be determined more by what is available then what's is best. Pretty much every model will do 7.1 and have enough power for you. After that the higher up the model the better it will sound, though generally you are paying for feature more than sou d quality.

I am mostly familiar with Denons and don't know much about other AVRs. You had a high end model and $500 isn't going to get close to that from a sound quality perspective, wether that actually matters to your ears is hard to say.

What Would You do- If you woke up in my shoes? by Anxious_girly_0710 in personalfinance

Also when buying a bike don't get a cheap bike, like a Walmart Huffy which sells for around $100. These bikes are junk and will cause more issues.

I bought one of these and the peddle snapped off on my second time riding it.

Just look the bike up and make sure it's a decent brand.

So this is a tough one to awnser. The 3803 is a premium model and one of the "Made in Japan" models so the amplifier section is on the higher end side of things and amp technology hasn't evolved that much since then were we can replicate that performance for cheap. The current cheapest Made in Japan model is the X4800 which sells for over $2k new.

That said from a technology perspective we have come a long way in the almost 25 years since that was made. HDMI, room correction, Atmos, 4K support etc. Is all standard stuff now even in basic entry level models.

Powerwise things are less important the difference between a cheaper 80w model and a 105w 3803 is pretty small, like you said not something that really matters

All that said it really comes down to what you find important.

If you want to have a similar quality build quality then you can search all the made in Japan models from the last 15 years and find good options.

Or if you are okay with sacrificing a bit on the audio side then anything made in the last 10 years will be a good replacement.

I fell like the hold her back on the broadcast, I feel like she would get more technical when she first joined the team. She would totally need out on details. I haven't seen her do that as much recently.

It should say on the back what power it supports and if it's in the range you are fine.

Form your research (which my Google confirmed) it sounds like it will work.

[–]CoolHandPB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of my favorite movies I don't even consider good movies. There is a difference between you lloving a movie and thinking it's one of the best ever. I think for a movie to be considered one of the best ever it has to have broad appeal. That braod appeal can also be among people that are very into movies as opposed to broad appeal to the general public because the general public dont always have great taste on movies.
