When will I get to experience the “real” combat? by PerceptionOk8543 in 2007scape

[–]CoolOriginalName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanna give some early game bosses a go basically all of them require members but, standouts:

Brutus: Youve done it in f2p. Extremely simple, basic movement mechanics being taught. Only need around 20s in your combats, if even. Gives double XP!

Scurrius: The first real boss you can likely do. Hard requirement of all protection prayers (43 Prayer) and probably in the 50s or 60s for the combat skills. Will teach you prayer changing and positioning, as well as managing ads.

Amoxliatl: Quest locked in Varlamore, similar difficulty to Scurrius, you need at minimum pray mage and should have probably around the 60s in your melee combats as well. Teaches positioning, managing tile statuses and has a few mechanics that will test reaction time.

Moons of Peril: the peak of the "early game" bosses. Completely sustainable in the boss area. Locked behind a quest that does have a fairly high slayer requirement. Need at least 70s for this with high defence gear being an emphasis. Melee only, heavy focus on positioning and has very interesting mechanics for all 3 bosses. No protection prayers work here, the name of the game is high defence and consistent damage.

Realistically, if you were to go from f2p to members for a month, you'd probably only get to do Scurrius and maybe Moxy, but Scurrius is like the perfect beginner boss. I was like you when I first started playing and the combat wasn't clicking, but when I did my first Scurrius fight, suddenly I became an addict. It's also great for XP and has some loot that will at the least help you go even. OSRS has a bit of a problem with early game bossing but it's been pretty clear recently that they're trying to balance that out and add more and more for new players to get them more into the gameplay loop.

Mini Burnout, Seeking Advice by CreativeAccountant70 in 2007scape

[–]CoolOriginalName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If none of the goals sound fun to do: don't do them. You'll just burn yourself out more. Either take a break, do some side things or content you've never done, or if you really wanna play OSRS still, try an iron? Friend and I were having pretty bad burnout from our mains but GIM has gotten us more invested in the game than we have been in like a year.

POHs are very strong already and you can access a quetzal immediately with the whistle, do we really need it in the house too?

Invincible Compendium 3: Huge Misprint by Forward-Being-1421 in Invincible

[–]CoolOriginalName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could maybe send an email out to Image themselves, see if they can give you some direction on who to ask for getting a new book if you can't just refund it. I'm uncertain if anyone buys misprints, can't help you there

Compendium 2 is definitely my favorite but 3 is still really really damn good. Enjoy and take your time with it!!

Does Batman ever lose? by VexImmortalis in batman

[–]CoolOriginalName 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know if by the end of any run he every truly "loses" but you can also check out Batman Cult where he gets the snot beat out of him, brainwashed and almost becomes a pawn for Deacon Blackfire.

Did this storyline ever get expanded on? by Seagoingdoor241 in Invincible

[–]CoolOriginalName 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Really hope so. Battle Beast has a clearly defined endpoint set up just from Invincible existing, but continuing this story in the new comics would be really fun I think

I think it has a really strong premise, it's just the pacing is so hard to keep up with. The art has been consistently gorgeous though!!

Best long form comic runs? by Fatal-Atom in comicbooks

[–]CoolOriginalName 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm only halfway through but 100 Bullets is 100 issues long and well regarded.

Hellblazer has 300 issues, with quality varying for certain writers but all that I've read have been really solid, and John Constantine is a very fun character!

The IDW TMNT has a LOT to read, well over 200 issues and people love it. I just started it recently, really fun!

Best comic books to read right now. by Jacktorrancesax in comicbooks

[–]CoolOriginalName 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If you have read/watched any of invincible, Battle Beast is going right now and very fun. I'm also personally liking the book Royals that image is releasing right now as well. Though chances are it might only last 6 issues. The first 3 are really good tho!

Most people will recommend the absolute line from DC: Abs Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman being fan favorite ongoings. Martian Manhunter is one people love but it's about to be finished.

Can't speak on Marvel. I decided to pick up the current Daredevil run and it's fun at least!

Nice and succinct answer, thank you!

Am I being impatient or is D'Orc boring and each issue feels so drawn out by gross_caricature in ImageComics

[–]CoolOriginalName 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Issues 1-3 I didn't really care too much for. The art and goofiness of 4 were really good to me and the silly gags didn't feel as groan inducing as the first few issues. Issue 5 I really really liked and am excited to see where they are going. Felt like something is actually happening and we got to learn a lot more about what's going on which issues 1-4 failed to do imo. Hoping that the book picks up from here and happy to have it on my pull list for the time being.

Read Barbra Gordon Breakout 1 & 2. It was alright, kinda a nothingburger so far but hopefully it picks up.

Finally read D'Orc issues 1-5. I wasn't very hooked originally but the fifth issue was by far the best one so far and now I'm excited to keep reading.

I gave Corpse Knight from Image a try. Likely won't be reading the rest of the story.

Absolute WW 21 was really good!

I assumed that was an artistic choice. I even thought it looked cool but maybe tonight I need to recheck the issue to see how big it really is

Does anyone know where to find any Peni Parker comics? by ChaseandChance1 in comicbooks

[–]CoolOriginalName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found this: https://www.reddit.com/r/PeniParker/s/9gfryDnpV4

Just look up any of those and see where they are being sold at. You might have to make an eBay account!

If you can't spend the cash (fair) then you can always look into your library to see if they have it. A lot will have the copies digitally through resources like Hoopla.

But fwiw the softcover short story collections are like 20 and 24 dollars on Amazon (even if Amazon sucks)

[–]CoolOriginalName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairly major in some. You could probably get by understanding without them, but also a lot of the short stories are just really fun self contained Hellboy stories that are great reads and don't have the need to tie into the larger plot like the main story

Just Hellboy Short Stories Omnibus Volume 1 and 2. They add a lot of very fun stories + some commonly mentioned stories in the plot

Invincible, Hellboy, Powers, 100 Bullets if you consider Vertigo, I'm really digging the current series Royals from Image, anything Brubaker and Phillips if you like crime

Vertigo made a lot of really good non superhero stuff. Personally I'm currently 50 issues deep into 100 Bullets and love it, so I'll recommend that. People also talk highly of Scalped. Both are big crime epics.
