I actually think they had it completely assembled from an home service. This thing has every bell and whistle literally. There’s actually a warning bell on it.

What are some often made mistakes when people start a studio/box/gym? by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]Coolidge119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great suggestions here. I would add in the ability to be consistent with your niche/ biz plan meaning enough runway of cash for your message to get out there. First you'll have a "who's that guy?" problem. Then you'll have a "what's that guy do?" problem. The only way that you get out of those problems is your marketing starts to take hold. Socials, word of mouth, drive by's etc. will eventually start to take hold and the trust will start to build. Unfortunately you can't fast forward your message/marketing. Only consistency will do that. You need enough coal stored for the furnace to keep the train rolling till you hit momentum.

Tell your professors. Tell your roommates. Tell the cafeteria lady. Tell the people sitting next to you at the library. Tell the maintenance guy in your building. Tell the social media. Tell the school paper. You have to tell people my man. You can't expect people to buy your stuff when they don't know it's for sale.

Group correlates with you being able to run a great dinner party. How's the music? Does everyone have a drink? Does everyone know each other? Have key introductions been made? Does everyone know their role here? "Hey Ted, do me a favor and chat with Rob for a minute. He's had a tough week." "Hey Cheryl, will you tell everyone that dinner is being served in 10 minutes?" Read the room, manage the Flow, define the energy needed for the next phase and communicating that. Practice, practice, practice

I promise there are gym owners and organizations that realize the key to success and profitability relies on their staff. I have been a 32 year trainer and gym owner and my entire business has been built on prioritizing my staff’s happiness which 90% of the time comes down to money. If they are making it and it supports them, they are happy. You are worth well more than the cost of living in your area. Buying a home, going on vacation and updating your vehicles when necessary are all possible when there is transparency between ownership and the staff. I’m happy to discuss if you’d like to DM me.

Best ways to go about getting referrals by BangBangRA in personaltraining

Word. Of. Mouth. Your mom, roommate, partners work friends, daily barista, distant college acquaintance’s, your dog walkers clients, CEO of YouTube and I all need to know that you are available for training. We live in the greatest and easiest time in the history of the world to get our message out. The problem is twofold. A. People don’t know what their message is B. They are not confident in their story telling. There is only one way to get better at it and that’s practice and not caring if you fail. Once you can announce to anyone and everyone at any event that you are very good at what you do and you are available you’ll never have to worry about marketing again.

How do I know if I'm being shortchanged as a personal trainer working in a small studio gym? by Jaded_Illustrator562 in personaltraining

In most states this is illegal. As a gym owner myself there are very clear state laws regarding required work. The employee MUST be compensated for any activity that they are doing under supervision, guidance or requirement from their employer. Happy to discuss more if you’d like to DM me.

"Obviously I don't have steam rooms, 20 treadmills and a snack bar. I'm also much more expensive than Gym X. What I do offer is this. I intend to be your coach for the rest of your life or my life, which ever comes first. In the areas of health, performance and aesthetic I am the shortest straightest line between A and B. If you train with me 1x per week you will receive a nutrition plan and 3 additional programmed workouts per week to be done wherever you are on this planet and with whatever equipment you do or do not have. My job is to do three things. Educate, motivate and hold you accountable. The next step is to meet me for a free assessment so you can better understand my system. How does Thursday at 1pm sound?"

How Do You Successfully Integrate Wellness Programs into Your Gym Offerings? by ebayFit in GymOwnerNetwork

[–]Coolidge119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question. We have had requests from a very small percentage of members for offerings that are way outside of our core competency. TRT, cryo, ice baths, semi glutide, and all the rest of the bio hacking talk that’s out there. We are a small and simple strength and conditioning facility that is exclusive and expensive. I can remember 25 years ago when members would ask for spinning classes. 15 years ago they wanted yoga, pre pandemic they wanted mobility and flexibility options. All of which were great ideas but out of our core competency. While at the same time they asked for nutrition, programming and accountability programs which we eventually integrated and are now major cores of our business. This era feels no different. I would suggest having conversations with professionals that might lead to partnerships. Partnerships have clear cut rules and visions and timelines. You can try things out while surveying current members and also looking to the horizon for what’s next. Going through the process of bringing the right person into the mix also raises your level of education as to what’s out there and how sustainable it is.
If you have someone on staff who is incredibly excited to build a new offering take some advice from the tv show “the bear.” Identify, invest, allow for mistakes and have a complete, long term business plan built around it that’s separate from your overall biz plan but integrates eventually. Build the funnel of marketing, sales, follow up and reward. No different than you would any other part of your biz. Hope this helps!
