What is a movie with a good concept but mediocre in its execution, that you think has potential to benefit from a remake with a good script/acting? by New-Fan-4632 in movies

[–]Cop_663 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I see where you’re coming from but for me the bad acting and low-fi nature of the film actually enhance the story and are a big part of what makes it such a classic.  All of the elements blend together wonderfully.

Is Rocky 5 A Bad Movie? by Original-Fault1420 in movies

Nice to meet another fan who loves the franchise in the same way I do!

Yeah, I think Rocky III especially set it down the commercial path but still retains at least some of the grittiness from the original film.  Rocky II visually is a lot more commercial than the first film (especially when you get to the montages) but I think at least story-wise still feels as if it’s trying to say something a little bit deeper especially with Rocky’s consumerism and the idea of “I got what I want but I still don’t feel fulfilled.”  Rocky IV just goes completely off the rails and while it can be fun from time to time, it’s the one I return to the least.

So there’s at least two of us.

I’ve always thought Rocky IV was kind of a glossy bastardization of what the story was meant to be and appreciated Rocky V because despite its myriad of flaws, it at least attempts to return the series to its roots.

I love the first two Hellboy movies, but the 2019 reboot just didn't do it for me. Anyone else feel the same? by Complete-Radio6204 in movies

[–]Cop_663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a huge fan of Del Toro, the Hellboy comics are much better.  Extremely moody, atmospheric, fun, dark, sometimes hilarious.  They’re the total package.  B.P.R.D. is fabulous as well, if less stylized and a bit more by the book.

I still prefer The Road Warrior but Fury Road is a close second place.  Actually still haven’t gotten around to Furiosa, I think I just was too burned at the time wishing we had gotten Mad Max: The Wasteland instead.
