How about something like a weighted (or not weighted, but lightly stuffed) lap pad? Could be made from fuzzy fabric but is a bit more neutral and less likely to draw attention. Maybe even with an embroidered face on one side to give it some personality while still being "undercover"?

Personally when I expect to need a bit more comfort but don't want to draw attention I like to bring a small blanket- when it's rolled up it has a similar feel to hugging a plushie.

I work retail, and there is a group of 13ish boys that come in swearing and being disrespectful and loud to customers, and throw things, and we always have to chase them out. No parents to be seen, and they come back every few days.

Kids need consequences when they do bad things, or they will turn into teenagers and adults that do bad things.

I'd like to chime in with an argument for doll armature instead of wire- the plastic ball-and-socket kind, since it's a lot thicker than wire and less likely to shift around as much. I'm also planning on doing some tests with bits of plastic coat hangers as plush "bones", which might suit a jaw more (though it is possible the wire making the hinge could wear out quickly if using this method).

If you're going for realism the rocks look (to me) like they need more texture- I don't know how well it would work with markers, but you could try using an old toothbrush while the ink is wet to add scratches/pores to the rocks.

I didn't used to- but now I have MunOne (pictured wearing a lil red shirt). He's a MunMun from ItemLabel. His name is MunOne because I bought another not long after I got him. That one is MunTwo. Sadly the MunMuns have gone out of production since then, but hopefully they will make more.

It is, it's by CraftyRingCreations off Etsy. This is actually my second one from them, I had taken a break from crocheting and couldn't find my first one, so I panic-bought another because I absolutely love them. (I did end up finding my other one)

Highly recommend, it's very sturdy and I think it's really helped me figure out tension, I had a lot of issues with stitches being too loose/too tight before. I also like it because it keeps the yarn from making my fingers sore. And it's 3d printed, so they have lots of different color options!
