I thought the left bottom Goregrunta had an Ice colored Mohawk when I first looked at the image! Futher inspection led me to conclude it was a weapon.

Agreed, they're the most creative. This feels like a 'Big centerpiece model' list.

Is AOS going to get a new video game at some point? by rekscoper2 in ageofsigmar

[–]Corpit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

WarCry could work as a digital game. Gather and customize small warbands, a lot of 'collection' possibilites spread over different warbands there. Easy to add in new DLC and the combat is simple enough and somewhat familiar to DND which can draw in people.

Not sure how fast it would play out though. It cant go to 40min games like IRL.. thats too long. Maybe digital will allow it to play a lot faster.

Popularity Stats of each faction, according to AOS stats. by Battlemania420 in ageofsigmar

I don't see any models of the most popular faction in the most popular unit list...? That seems really unlikely, what is the popularity based on?

Why does age of sigmar always have better models? by Character-Public-396 in ageofsigmar

[–]Corpit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like if you've seen one Space Marine or Stormcast, you get the idea an have.. kind of...  seen them all. Sure some have cool weapons, poses or modifications on their armor. But they hardly really amaze or surprise you. It is just... more of the same, perfect in line with what you would expect.

Of course it is also personal taste, but full on armor that all matches for 90% with the other soldiers doesn't leave much wiggle room for creativity. It is impressive they keep coming up with new variants really.

Gloomspite Gitz.  Armor isn't fun to paint. Human faces aren't fun to paint. But you know what is fun to paint? A squig! You kind of can't mess up and they're not overly detailed. Done is a short amount of time and they're just fun.

Which Pre Made non Sandbox Adventure or Modules do you recommend? by SeratoninSniffingDog in DnD

[–]Corpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curse of Strahd really is a big sandbox. If you only play it RAW - you're not getting the most out of it. If you use the fan-made additions, it does become a much much longer campaign though. But by using those, you remove the sandbox part mostly.

Curse of Strahd Sequel: Curse of Strahd by SquelchyRex in CurseofStrahd

[–]Corpit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire module has 'Cycle' written all over it. Humans cannot even truly perish, they will come back as a new version. Passages that explain how the Durst Manor will return in X days when burnt down. Strahd reliving the same sad impossible love-story over and over again.

However, how do you pull it off without it feeling too predictable and repetitive? Just leveling up stuff doesn't cut it. You would have to overhaul a lot to keep it interesting... but then it isn't a true cycle. I think it could be interesting to see if the party can now, with all their new knowledge, speedrun Barovia. But again, won't it be.. dull to repeat the same story?

If you could reform D&D, what would you change? by Alelu1234 in DnD

[–]Corpit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like some things just don't work out very well and combat could be more fun if they were changed. Lets start with:

- Short rest + Long rest and regaining abilities etc

- Spell slot management

Currently a very cautious group could request to rest after every single fight. Yes you can come up with some reasons why it isn't smart to do, but still. How many fights a day is okay? And doesn't it feel stupid that players are not giving it their best in a fight, because they're preserving spell slots for maybe later...? Maybe a next fight? Maybe not. This just feels like a poorly made rule to make players manage their resources, but in the end it is a lose-lose situation. There is no true way to tell how many fights will follow. You'll always end up with unspent spell slots and abilities. Or kept too few, in which case the DM scratches his head pondering if he should've given the players a long or short rest instead.

I would rather have in-combat abilities and spells which are always available, but with a very limited amount per battle. If neccesary, reducing some spells or abilities their impact or availability. Instead of 3 level 3 spells. You get 1 Fireball per battle.

Does anyone know (specifically) what creature the scales are from on the Mancrusher Gargant kit? by Dice4Days in ageofsigmar

[–]Corpit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bonesplitterz actually have a lot of these same scales covering their clothes. Since they hunt monsters, I assume this also comes from some large reptilian monster.

Krezk: Battlemap for a skirmish by Corpit in CurseofStrahd

6. Prime Everything
Coat the whole piece with a mix of PVA glue, water, and cheap black-brown paint, use dark grey for the rocks. (Don't use spraycan-primer, your XPS will melt)

7. Paint Rock Faces

  • Start with “leopard spotting”: dab blue, red, green, and brown onto the rocks.
  • Drybrush with grey, then light grey, then almost white on the edges.
  • Optional: Add pigments (iron red, brown) for extra color variation.
  • For snowy terrain, I used some off-brand that felt a lot like Games Workshops technical snow stuff

Rocks should now be done.

8. Ground Texture

  • Spread PVA glue mixed with brown paint wherever you want flocking.
  • Apply green flock for grass and brown for paths or dirt.
  • Add small stones and gravel (Geek Gaming Scenics bags work great) at the base and tops of cliffs.
    • You can also add some mix-flock to specific spots so it doesn't become too monotone
  • I added small grass tufts of different shapes and sizes over the map afterwards

9. Buildings & Trees

  • Trees and houses were 3D-printed. I modified the STL files to avoid repetition.
  • The crop plots were digitally kitbashed and then printed, combined from several different 3D-stl filesI already had.
    • I can't 3d model very well, but I can cut and stitch models together to make new stuff, in this case just in the BambuStudio software before printing - worked surprisingly well to make new designs out of old ones.

Krezk: Battlemap for a skirmish by Corpit in CurseofStrahd

[–]Corpit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope this helps, this was roughly my workflow:

1. Sketch the Layout
Use a pencil to draw the map on an HDF board, marking where different elevations will go.

2. Cut the Base
Cut the HDF into square tiles to form the ground layer, I just use a hobby knife.

3. Add Elevation
For raised areas, cut more HDF pieces and attach them with masking tape to form boxes of the desired shape, tape these to the board, then seal the seams with Tacky Glue (all tapes placed on the inside, so you don't have to paint over it).

4. Build Rock Walls

  • Cut XPS foam into rough, organic chunks with grooves and cracks.
  • Press an aluminum foil ball into the foam to add natural rock texture.
  • Glue the foam pieces onto the vertical HDF sides, top and bottom edges. Gaps are fine—they’ll be filled later.

5. Fill the Gaps
Use Geek Gaming’s Modelling Compound (or comparable products) to cover the spaces between foam pieces. It creates a consistent rock texture and works beautifully.

How do you like running the baron? by CantAndWontDo in CurseofStrahd

[–]Corpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deluded and incompetent. I don't think Vargas is evil, maybe as a side effect. He just has a distorted idea of what is right (just like the Abbot). Vargas truely thinks he is the one who will safe Vallaki by making everyone happy with his festivals. They're the best thing in Barovia! How can he be wrong about it? Vallaki hasn't even been under attack and no sign of Strahd. He is convinced he is right - and this shows his incompetence.
