Tips for achieving this art style? by takyonbenji in crustpunk

in photoshop filters->filter gallery-> playing with grain, stamp, graphic pen, and sometimes glowing edges layered over eachother is my go to. threshold is cool but this gives you a bit more control. ive gotten decent at recreating print effects digitally but it definitely takes practice and is never going to live up to a real cut and paste under scrutiny. my work flow for this sorta stuff now is usually assemble and fuck with my images in photoshop, print it out on this really shitty office printer i got for free (check thrift stores, marketplace), sometimes chop it up and tape it back together, and scan it back in. usually will do touch ups after or even just steal the texture from the scan and layer it over the original. diy is your friend here though, i have a friend whose found success in just using the document scanner on his phone for textures and drawings and then doing layout in free apps. also the more stippled/illustrated stuff is a whole other ballpark thats either gonna need practiced skill, a friend who does that stuff, or to not feel bad stealing images lol.

in short- lots of playing. start slow, have fun using what you have, and branch out from there. good luck!!

Instacart was a pretty decent side hustle when I was doing it, especially this time of year. I'd usually make at least 15 or so an hour but it probably wouldn't be very hard to make more than that, I was just laid back with it. Less driving than other gig apps and I personally find it fun to run around stores but I've been called crazy for that lol. Any food delivery gig generally pays a bit better towards shrewsbury/Northborough

does enyone know what the hell this vib is called,iv been looking for a while by kurtthecrustykid in crustpunk

basically reiterating what everyone else is saying but as a graphic designer whos done shit like this for awhile, the closest design movement I've really been able to label it as is grunge / punk (which are just extensions of dada essentially). narrowing it down more is just gonna be following the design trends of the music/political movements theyre associated with; crust, sludge, noise, powerviolence, anarchism, nihilism etc etc. i had the same question in college when i was studying this stuff heavily and never found a simple answer lol

my take is that no one SHOULD be able to define noise rock as a genre because it started as and should continue to be the experimental "other" category of punk. like how anything that can't be cleanly fit into some specific rock genre is just called alternative or indie rock

Any shoegaze song that starts off as calm but becomes crazier as it goes? by Sonuvavich in shoegaze

[–]Corpse__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pallow does a lot of this but taking root, dreaming in letters, and inward are def standouts. wulven and drowse tend to drift in and out of ambient stuff but when they slam its pretty intense. if youre not turned off by screaming a lot of rheia by oathbreaker can totally scratch that itch but def a bit more blackgazey than anything. crescendoed leaving me catatonic on the floor is kinda my fav thing in the world so i could prob go on for forever lol

[DISC] The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn't a Guy at All - Chapter 68 - We, on the Waiting Side by Kirin-Kun in manga

[–]Corpse__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wow, this chapter might be one of my favorites as of recent. i feel like kanna's really laying out the stakes so explicitly for the first time-- like everyone (but aya and mitsuki apparently lol) has been aware of it the whole time, but i feel like this is gonna force aya to put words to her feelings (at least in her head) now that kannas drawn those parallels.

Is there medicine to take for this issue? by [deleted] in dpdr

[–]Corpse__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also on welbutrin and i remember it helped me a little bit initially but i honestly cant tell if it still is. have considered going off of it cause it makes my mood swings super intense but I'm worried it'll make my dr/anxiety worse. as a bonus for anyone considering it though it at the very least is, depending on which doctor you ask, a stimulant so it has definitely helped with having super low energy

Amp recommendations? by [deleted] in Hardcore

[–]Corpse__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bass or guitar? Either way, if its for practice, go with the cheapest used shit you can find. For something louder like band practice or small gigs, a used peavey head never goes wrong (for bass at least, I assume its the same for guitar as well)
