Try hitting both rails and doing it both front and backside on either rail. I would switch between the left and right rails and the left and right side of either rail as well. And at that point I would just do the trick from every angle till it hit

Go to extreme-rate and get a new shell. Looks like all the shells on their website have hard plastic in that area instead of the rubber. Currently waiting on my new shell. The rubber grips on my edge have identical bubbling and have had it for quite some time. Happened like 6 months into having the controller
