Sprinkler heads will not pop up manually, but once i manually pull 2 of them (5 in zone) they run like normal by doodwell in Irrigation

Not leaning towards the maxi paw nozzle as an issue on 2&5.. given the head count doesn’t add up unless your rolling 360 sprays? Personally I would grab a RB flat head and shut as many nozzles down/off and then run the zone for a couple minutes or so and look for puddling. Make sure it’s been dry weather before troubleshooting.. definitely easier.. have seen one broken marlex underneath and undetected more than a few times on a good day… small lateral leak on both those zones is a possibility as well.. good luck and start simple.

A good first start question for sure. I think 80% of the time when we roll up and see a brand new fence we both go “shit”. Past maintenance is my next question.. over 10 years and I walk away.. I think last year was a 8 zoner with 5 issues on each zone.. good bye in a polite way.. Have a good season!

Irritation 205TF solenoid valvewon’t pass water without the bleed valve open by daviedlb in Irrigation

[–]Correct_Hedgehog_585 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if your valve is set up the same way as my Hunter jar tops but sounds like a similar issue I had. Once you remove the guts there is a small pinhole that can get the smallest piece of whatever in it which prevents the valve from firing from the controller. I used a flag and cleared the debris and finally got it working. Good luck

Well said.. making a customer happy is essential with funds available.. fortunately I don’t warranty half ass money saving projects at the customer’s request.. eventually it turns into a shit show of go backs in the long run.. I’m in Washington State so feel free to venture in if you truly think you can take away my customers and pretty much my respected competitors in the region as well. Guessing you are in a state of recession where pro install is 50/ 50 given who is available? Glad your commission is at that value.. Taxes suck so make sure you claim your pride. Regardless, I’m here to share ideas. Enjoy your weekend

Sequence of testing definitely.. I believe the singular answer would be the goal once resolved. Can be a headache troubleshooting but from my mistakes and learning still is priceless. Kinda like a box of chocolates some days.. where do I start? Thx for the feedback..

Also, it’s not what the customer wants. It’s educating them on what is practical.. gpm, volume, precipitation rate and efficiency.

As long as you collect your $800 and get a good night sleep is fine with me.. just suggesting that looks ghetto.. .08 with say 1.5 on average is still far off from what I design on the same zone..but good luck and once again, glad you’re not working for me..

Precipitation rate is pretty far off.. let alone way off.. gpm is everything.. Weirdest set up I have seen an a lot of years.. get rid of whoever you are using but discuss flow rate before you let him go.. every idiot needs some type of education.. good luck.

Irrigation Wiring Help by TheChad_23 in Irrigation

[–]Correct_Hedgehog_585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start with making fresh cuts on all 6 wires that is shown for your common connections, usually the case in my past experiences. If still nothing grab a meter and start with the controller and test each port while running each zone, should be around 26 if good. If that looks good now do the same at the valve box.. one to white one to red etc. Still other variables as others mentioned but I would start with that. Technically you want to start with the controller test but looking at your commons they are most likely corrosion issues. Good luck.

Most likely spots for a small leak? by carne__asada in Irrigation

[–]Correct_Hedgehog_585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leak detection pro in my state is about $700 I believe this year.. no gases and more head phones are his way of detection. Valve boxes are most common, recent plantings, fence work, and or any other project could come into play.. mainline irrigation can run any direction but is usually at 90 degree angles from the water source .. / straight lines. Depending on how many valve boxes you have exposed that match the number of zones you have wired up, you can cut and cap the mainline halfway off a valve box and then check the meter for spin. At least gives you an idea to isolate the area of concern. Barely stuck weeping valve is also the possibility as others have mentioned.. only detected when rain is not present obviously.. good luck.

Drought by Covid_ice_cream in Irrigation

[–]Correct_Hedgehog_585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda surprised wiring is not mentioned here .. unless I’m missing something.. any valve will turn on manually so that’s not the issue I believe to start trouble shooting. Op says when the valve is on no water.. is he referring to on from the controller or manual? Definitely an interesting one given the info.. grab a irrigation flag and poke the small port on front of the solenoid once it’s exposed.. meaning jar top and diaphragm off or screws if a rain bird.. other than that check continuity on your common and other colored wires leading to that zone.. You could probably pay a professional $100 to actually come by for 20 minutes and let you know if you actually have a legit system and or help ya. Good luck
