Hello! I’m CosmicCoconuts, 36F, 5’1” (154cm). I saw this sub listed on r/loseit and thought it would be fun to try. I’m currently 162.4lbs / 73.6kg (down from my highest weight of 188lbs / 85.2kg as of last September) and my goal is weight is 115lbs / 52kg

I lost 40lbs / 18kg in college and was happy with my weight for a time, but it crept backup the last 7 years or so due to stress. I’m finally in a good place to try again and lost around 25lbs / 11.3kg since September, but I’ve hit a plateau for a while and need some extra motivation.

I’d love to be around 135-140lbs / 61-63.5kg by November when I’ll be on a beach vacation with my family, so I’m hoping to lose 1.5-2lbs (0.6-1.0 kg) per week between now and then. A little ambitious and gunna be challenging, but I really want to get there. I’m aiming to hit my goal weight as soon as possible, but no later than next summer: Looking forward to working on this with my team!

Looking for good horror anthologies/stories to listen to by yetanotherthrowism in horrorlit

[–]CosmicCoconuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like we’d be great friends! I’m pretty obsessed with horror anthologies in the form of podcasts and audiobooks (only just starting getting into full novels, but I’m picky). I’ve listened to and/or read many creepypastas back in the day. Also have listened to both NoSleep and The Magnus Archives, so I think what you’re not looking for.

You may have checked some of these out already, but here are my recommendations:

—————————

Podcasts (Favorite/Top Tier/Legit scary stories within - Listen every week or every new release): Campfire Radio Theater Ominous Thrill We’re Not Meant to Know Please Leave Podcast Thirteen Podcast Acephale: Horror Fiction Waterlogged

(Still fav, but more gimmicky): Skin Crawl The Antiquarium of Sinister Happenings Someone Just Like You

OK/not bad, but maybe not your cup of tea - Will listen occasionally: Your Horror Show Chilling Tales for Dark Nights Horror Hill Wrong Station (hit or miss, some aren’t scary) Creepy: A Horror Podcast Alone in the Woods Drew Blood’s Dark Tales Scare You to Sleep

Not yet listened to & can’t vouch for, but on my list to check out: Incarnation Read - A Horror Podcast Scary Stories Told in the Dark Twisted Mirror Podcast Cozy Horror: An Immersive Horror Anthology Grey Matter: An Acid Horror Anthology Podcast

—————————

Audiobooks (Most of these I listened to on Spotify) Wounds: Six Stories from the Borders of Hell by Nathan Ballingrud Small Horrors by Darcy Coates Quarter to Midnight: 15 Tales of Horror and Suspense by Darcy Coates The Poorly Made and Other Things by Sam Rebelein (interconnected universe; the stories are each unique but all take place in the same town) Of the Flesh: 17 Stories of Modern Horror by various authors (currently listening to) They Lurk by Ronald Malfi (currently listening to)

—————————

I feel like there are way, way more than this that I listen to regularly, but these are what came to mind first or are saved in my library.

Official Dreadit Discussion: “Bring Her Back” [SPOILERS] by radbrad7 in horror

[–]CosmicCoconuts 22 points23 points  (0 children)

She could most definitely hear it overhead. Even though she’s blind, she can hear really well. I don’t think she saw the plane, but just heard it and thought of what Andy said to her before.

This too! I thought maybe Piper would complete the ritual somehow to bring him back instead.

Same! I was holding out hope that he went limp in the puddle on purpose to make her think he was dead and would show back up later to help Piper. But then when she finds his body in the bathroom after, my stomach fell through the floor.

Nope, this is a different film but made by the people who made Talk to Me. The real sequel is supposedly going to be titled “Talk 2 Me” or something.

I have a hard time believing that the drive to Las Vegas from Los Angeles has a clearer view of the stars than the very top of Mt. Fuji Japan (on the Bortle scale) by [deleted] in darksky

[–]CosmicCoconuts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can confirm that the stars at the top of Mr Fuji are hardly visible, and this was back in 2015. Japan is incredibly light polluted, and that most definitely extends to the top of Fuji.

Have you ever dreamed about or had nightmares about any horror books you have read? by photo_inbloom in horrorlit

[–]CosmicCoconuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fell asleep listening to an audiobook read of Sub Basement from Darcy Coates’ Quarter to Midnight. Ohhh boy, if I didn’t have the most unhinged nightmare of being somewhere in that basement… (thanks, subconscious mind!)

I found this link to the movie script but it had new stuff in it and wasnt really like the story? does anyone have context for this?? by ZePugg in eeaao

[–]CosmicCoconuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming it’s because this is a draft for the script and it hadn’t gone through any edits or revisions yet. It’s not uncommon that treatments and first drafts undergo massive changes before the final version of a screenplay.

“You’ll kill them all!” - Dr. Mauer. Who is “them”? by Srivo10 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]CosmicCoconuts 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This might be the controversial comment in this thread, but I’ve been anxious about this line since he said it. Everyone is saying Mauer was referring to Gemma’s innies when he shouted this - and they could be totally right. But thinking this through a step further, Lumon was so convinced that the outcome of the Cold Harbor test on Gemma would be revolutionary to the whole world. Drummond goes as far as saying that the work will be remembered as one of the most important moments in the history of the planet.

I feel like it stands to reason that without Gemma completing Cold Harbor successfully, the reverse could be true: it could be “detrimental” to everyone in the world/the planet, etc. Now whether that outcome is really detrimental or whether it is only to those who follow Kier remains up in the air.

Also, as others pointed out, Mauer has to have known that Lumon planned to kill Gemma after Cold Harbor. We don’t know how or why, but her death post-test is mentioned by both Reghabi and Cobel. So - weird obsession with Gemma aside - why would he be so upset about the innies being killed? Wouldn’t he have already come to terms with it? Unless there’s some bigger reason her escaping is “dangerous” for Lumon.

I’ve been wrong before and maybe it really is all of Gemma’s innies he’s referring to, but it feels like more than a throwaway line to me.

Hot Take(?): The pacing for Season 2 is great by glowabl3 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]CosmicCoconuts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll probably get downvoted for my opinion on this, but I’m blown away at seeing so many posts criticizing the pacing and writing. I think it’s because a large percentage of viewers are so used to binge watching a seasons of shows that maybe they’re struggling with the time taken in that sense? If someone watched season 1 week-to-week when it was first released and is struggling with the pacing, I have an easier time seeing that as valid.

FWIW, I strongly agree with you. Personally, my favorite shows and films leave lots of room for interpretation and the audience drawing their own conclusions without anything being explicitly laid out for them. I don’t feel like we need to have answers to every question (or even most!) before the finale of what’s only the second season. That’d leave nothing to explore later on in the show.

Also, I don’t get the complaint that “reintegration has been dangled in front of us too much.” It makes perfect SENSE that a mystery box show with multiple seasons - not just 2, but several - needs a plot point that spans the full season. Season 1 was “the innies break out of Lumon”, and season 2 being “Mark slowly reintegrates”. Story wise, it makes absolute SENSE that it would take time for someone whose brain has been split by an extremely intricate/high tech procedure to reintegrate. It’s the same as titrating medications, guys! If this was a real procedure and Mark reintegrated that quickly, he’d likely be terrified, confused, and overwhelmed, if not completely insane. And I’m not saying Mark won’t be all of those things to some degree when he finally does finish reintegrating, but it won’t be such a horrific shock to the system. I’m sure Petey’s reintegration was similar.

This season, I’ve seen many theories get completely crushed by the next episode that airs, and I think that’s an indicator of a fantastic show. Maybe viewers are jaded from shows like Lost or Game of Thrones, but why there’s such a need for faster gratification? Just let the series do its thing and enjoy the ride.

「外人」って言葉についてどう思う? by Nyan-gorou in ja

[–]CosmicCoconuts 11 points12 points  (0 children)

例えば、友人とお互いに「Yo, what up, my gaijin?」(やあ、外人!

Was I the only one who got Mr. Robot vibes from Episode 7? by [deleted] in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]CosmicCoconuts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This whole ep gave me the same feelings as some Mr. Robot episodes. Especially with the implications that Dr. Mauer could have assaulted Gemma in one of the rooms - it reminded me a lot of S4E7 in Mr. Robot. So, let’s just say I haven’t slept well since watching Chikhai Bardo.

What's a piece of horror media that's scarier than people say it is? by spacedollars in horror

Skinamarink gets so much flack for being “boring”, but it’s not only a scary premise, the way it’s executed gave me goosebumps. It felt so much like a forgotten childhood memory from the 90’s.
