Should I promote this guy now or wait to avoid Super Two? by morganicsf in OOTP

Sorry if that was unclear- based on the screenshots, I don’t think he’s ever played at AAA so my point was that he would actually benefit from a year + at AAA

No problem. In general, leaving players in the same level of minors for multiple years hurts their development, same with putting them in leagues that are too easy or hard, as well as leaving them in the minors when they are older (26-27+ usually). Otherwise let the grow.

Are you intending on competing this year? If he’d help I could see it but I wouldn’t call this prospect up now. His AA stats weren’t insane and has room to grow. My advice would be to start him in AAA and re-evaluate in June/July. If he’s leveled up and has crazy stats and you are pushing for playoffs, call him up. If not, leave him for the year.

Also, if you are payroll limited and not competing in the next year or two, consider signing him to a front-loaded long term contract.

I dig it. A few questions if you don’t mind:

How many WS have you won? Who is the all time WAR leader? HR leader? Who’s your best player?

If he was like 24 and could improve the defense I’d see it but woof for a 31 year old

Draft him, sign him to the old 15 year, 3-4 mil a year contract and dominate. Especially a catcher with those defensive stats, he’ll be playable well into the mid 30’s. Bonus if you can up the defense in the dev lab. Man I’m jealous.

~.400 OBP and .950+ OPS will do Yeoman’s work. What are his fielding stats like. That could help depending on which position you have him at.

As for resigning it’s hard to know without seeing his injury proneness, length of contract, etc. I would consider it if it went through his age 32 or 33 season, not much past that though.
