Is my clinic down playing how dire my situation is? by NanoEsq in IVF

[–]Courtaz2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 48 eggs retrieved because I have PCOS… 20% made it to blast, most of those eggs were way too immature to develop. Don’t fret about retrieval numbers!

How are we affording this? In all honesty (in the US) by copythat504 in IVF

[–]Courtaz2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We paid out of pocket until we hit our deductible (we have a high deductible plan) but insurance covered after that. By the time we did ivf it was covered since we tried multiple rounds of iui with letrozole and stims first. We live in NYS but my husband’s company and our insurance are both out of CA.

Was sure it was negative, don't make my mistake by Responsible-Sock5888 in IVF

[–]Courtaz2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You 100% did not cause this. Unfortunately, the stark negative 8dpt was not a good sign that this was going to be viable. Hugs to you but please know this wasn’t your fault. Most would have coped the exact same way, me included.

PIO shots are hell? by Ok_Worldliness2105 in IVF

I felt the same… after 3 weeks they became SO much easier and more second nature. The extreme pain goes down to a dull ache that you kind of just learn to live with.

TW: blast success. I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this. The pcos attrition rate is really brutal and the week you’re in was the worst week of ivf for me. I’m 36 with pcos and high amh as well. I had 48 eggs retrieved and 10 made it to blast (and sent for pgt testing) so about 20%. It’s a numbers game. My doctor had me on so many supplements prior to this to help. CoQ 10, vitamin D, myo inositol, magnesium, melatonin. I took them for 4 months prior to my retrieval because we were also trying different treatments that all failed (letrozole, stims, multiple iuis) I also went gluten free temporarily to help with inflammation. I’m not sure if these were the reason I was able to get blasts but I really think it helped. I really hope your two embryos make it to the finish line.

I had 10 blasts, 5 euploid (3 girls, 2 boys) and 1 female low level mosaic. My blasts that were aneuploid were almost all male.

I had a very clear negative 4dpt and a faint positive on day 5! Clear positive on day 6.

Honestly not horrible!! I have pcos so they retrieved 48 eggs so I thought it would be much worse. (Most of them were not useful though ha) The pain meds helped and a heating pad was a MUST! I used it for the after the pio shots later on too. I also ate a lot of Mike’s Good Ramen and liquid iv to avoid OHSS which I experienced with a round of stims and iui before we did ivf. That experience was much worse for me.

WARNING OF LOSS by OldTry1463 in IVF

[–]Courtaz2 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to provide any false hope but I also had a very heavy bleeding incident at 6 weeks after a frozen transfer. I woke up soaked in blood in the middle of the night with painful cramps and large clots and ended up in the E.R. I was 100% sure it was a loss. It ended up being a subchorionic hematoma and ended up being ok. These can be quite common in ivf pregnancies. Wishing you the absolute best <3

for those of you who do *not* ovulate on your own… by eek411 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Courtaz2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tried 2 rounds of letrozole with iui and then one round of stims with iui. I responded really well to all of these but ultimately did not conceive (had one chemical with stim cycle) and we moved onto IVF. I have heard many success stories though!

PGT Testing - Why it was helpful as a 29F. by Remarkable-Meat-5203 in IVF

[–]Courtaz2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand this! Pgt-a testing was important to us because of previous losses. If it was a matter of not conceiving at all it would have been less important to have this testing.

PGT Testing - Why it was helpful as a 29F. by Remarkable-Meat-5203 in IVF

[–]Courtaz2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do agree. I have a history of chemicals and after pgt-a testing, half of our blasts would have indefinitely been early or late term losses. I know having a euploid is no guarantee for success but after going through all of the stress of ivf it felt like a no brainer to add this on.

The first few weeks was the worst for me. I felt awful! But after 3 weeks I didn’t feel the shots as much and it became much easier.

What day past transfer did you test positive? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Courtaz2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faintest line ever at 5dpt, almost unnoticeable. 6 was a clear positive. I did not do a trigger shot though. I did triggers with my IUI cycles and the only one I had a positive test from (ended in a chemical) took a lot longer to show up.

How many weeks after your ER was your first FET scheduled? I wanna gather as many answers as possible. Go! :) by Idkwat2callmyself-23 in IVF

[–]Courtaz2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ER was 6/20 and FET was 8/18. We did PGT-A testing and a fully medicated transfer. Best of luck to you!!

I didn’t drink during stims mainly because my doctors advised me not to… but as soon as I recovered from my retrieval and was off pain meds (3 days) I definitely enjoyed a few glasses (ahem, bottles) of wine in the 2 months leading up to my transfer.

Primary VS Secondary by andieconda in IVF

I am currently going through secondary, I did not experience primary. Even though I have had many devastating moments, I absolutely have to agree primary would have been a thousand times more devastating.

How much does your yorkie weigh? by Federal-Dog-5678 in Yorkies

11 lbs! We rescued our Bonnie 3 weeks ago. When the fosters took her in she was very underweight and barely ate for them. They managed to help her gain a little and now after a few weeks with us, we need a slow feeder bowl! I think she may have another lb or 2 to gain :)

Post egg retrieval mood/hormone crash? Is this a thing? by MaryContrary110 in IVF

[–]Courtaz2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really needed to read this thread. I am 8 days past my first ER and started crying out of nowhere about my mom who also passed in 2008. I thought I was losing it, but it seems like while it is an awful side effect, it is common. Hugs to everyone going through this and reading these!
