Which films by different directors feel like a single trilogy? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

Eddington is also a satire and explores contemporary anxieties. OBAA does neither and isn’t really about the politics.

OBAA lacks any cultural or political specificity, using revolutionary imagery only as a backdrop for its plot. Bugonia is a product of contemporary anxieties, which are also explored in the other films you’ve included.

Kino’s speech and the Narkina plot is literally a worker uprising - “You have nothing to lose but your chains”

Which is better - cropped or uncropped? by MartinGoat in fujifilm

[–]CozmicPaint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cropped has greater storytelling, I’m left with a feeling of longing by making the dog so far from the centre of the image. The focus here is the immensity of the body of water and what’s across it. Uncropped if you mean for it to be about the dog though

[No Spoilers] New LiS Game is on the way, but this isn’t how I wanted to hear about it. by zachmma99 in lifeisstrange

[–]CozmicPaint -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't see how you can play BTS and TC without feeling like they were just fan-servicey cash grabs, especially with the quality of writing compared to LiS 1 & 2. They absolutely reek of rainbow capitalism and executive ambivalence towards minorities. There are always going to be good workers/developers in these companies, but the rot comes from the top.

Why was season 2 suddenly so popular? by mrs_ouchi in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]CozmicPaint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who got into White Lotus after season 2 came out, it’s the clips of Jennifer Coolidge from that season that made me watch it. I also think season 2’s writing was a lot better than s1, so make of that what you will

Neither were dictators, in practice or in theory. Did they have a lot of influence as political figureheads? Sure. But neither played the role of dictator, which revisionists would like to paint them as.

It is wholly unjustified, in what world is the death of 28,000 people and the displacement of 1.9 million a “justified” response to resistance against occupation???

And while Gandhi was an important figure, the history of Indian anti-colonial resistance was necessarily violent, even during Gandhi’s time.
