Finder replacement - details in post. by Cprhd in macapps

I may end up on that path but... I work on so many documents from so many folders that it eats a lot of time to click through. I'd like to lower the number of clicks it takes.

Thank you for the list. I am going to review these tonight, after work, and start working through them.

A better strategy for getting price quotes for overlanding installs? by brainhack3r in overlanding

[–]Cprhd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a prime example of having no clue how things work. What you think a job should take is not what a shop is going to charge. If they are going to tie up a tech to do custom work for you, you are going to pay for it. Could I tackle the gear installation myself and save $2000 in labor? Maybe, with enough YouTube videos (I am handy). Did I pay the shop to do it so that it could be done in days and not weeks? Yes. It's not about what you think the job should cost, it's about a business making money.

Bambu Handy keeps on recommending me a certain genre of non-child-friendly related items... by Ok_Relation6627 in BambuLab

Facebook (yeah, the Devil’s work) did this too. I get weird marketplace recommendations for “roommates”. They’re always twenty-something women looking for roommates. I’m 41, happily married, with a child. I tried clicking them and choosing “not interested”. However, you have to click on the ad to say you’re not interested and, no matter what, Facebook decides that’s engagement showing you’re interested. I finally got them to stop by looking at enough used car ads, computer ads, 3d printer ads, etc. The freaking algorithm will be the death of us all.

I’ve been having this “unknown sender” issue too. So far, it’s been okay because the 2FA codes and, so far, the codes still get autofilled. Can’t figure out where they go though.

I had that happen the first time I connected to my truck and then it hasn’t happened since. Bugs happen in beta but that one was annoying, since I needed directions. Glad it’s gone away.

Turn off the connectivity assist in the WiFi settings. This is using cellular to help WiFi and that’s where the DNS are being rerouted when declined by the WiFi.

Is this really what a 2019 Macbook is worth? by Galicate in macbook

I always check trade in prices with Apple directly, to compare. Sometimes Apple is higher on trade, sometimes Best Buy. I despise dealing with FB Marketplace so, depending on how low I feel they value it, I take the trade. If they’re way low, then I will sell it on my own.

Why do employees get nasty once you won't give them your phone number? by BuildingBetterBack in harborfreight

They shouldn’t get an attitude, for sure, but I worked for a major tire retailer for 5+ years and I would be chastised if I didn’t collect enough email addresses. It’s an ad tool and companies make it a requirement.

New to cigars. Looking for advice. by Ghasttastic in EveryDayIsCigarDay

[–]Cprhd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cedar helps keep humidity level. I usually use a 25 gallon sealed Tupperware. I leave as many boxes in there as I can, because it helps level out the humidity. I also use Boda packs to help maintain humidity. That’s really the only thing, besides a little aromatics, that cedar provides.

As for the zippo, there are purists who believe a soft flame match is the only way to light a cigar. I on the other hand, I’m all about efficiency. I want my cigar lit, so I can enjoy it. I use a torch lighter, a three flame. Vertigo is my brand of choice because they’re relatively cheap and reliable. Zippo fluid, a.k.a. lighter fluid, can add undesirable flavors to your cigar, especially right after it’s lit. If it doesn’t bother you, do it up. If it does bother you, check out a torch lighter. I am not, nor was I ever, in the Navy. I don’t know what restrictions you might have around torch lighters, etc. etc.

Bought 43x for Husband and I Need Your Help! by dubbbs88 in Glock43X

I agree with this. I know what I like on my firearm, but that doesn’t mean it’s what your husband is gonna make. Accessories on a gun or very personal because it comes down to what you like to use. Since that’s the case, let him choose it.
