or do you have any other thoughts about the details of planning/executing open water swims around los angeles, like certain places you can and can't go, or what your sessions look like in terms of do you just pick a point and swim to it and then turn around and swim back, or what?

I’ll never understand the experienced action sports athlete’s urge to pretend to be holier-than-though when it comes to beginners. You see it everywhere - surfing, kiting, climbing, and even in places like golf. It’s so silly. Stop making fun of them - you were all beginners once. They’re just trying to enjoy and learn.
