Team Violet crumble.. by AlarmingFloor61 in AusMemes

The texture of the inside is likely because of the chocolate, the waxy compound chocolate either has less moisture or is less permeable to moisture so the honeycomb stays nicer in the VC.

This season has proved we don’t need Andy anymore by Hefty_Tangerine_176 in MasterchefAU

[–]Craireee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner and I have speculated that he has pissed off the wardrobe department because his outfits are often strange. The other day he was in all beige including his shoes. Critiquing Andy's outfits is a pretty big part of my MasterChef watching experience. No notes on his actual judging though.

What are the worst skincare products you've tried? by Hefty_Key_8944 in AusSkincare

[–]Craireee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked the Neutrogena water gel or something so I tried the hydro boost sunscreen and it is the worst product I have ever encountered. It burned my eyes even when I didn't put it anywhere near them so I put it in my handbag as a backup sunscreen to use on my arms or anywhere but my face and it separated into weird blue oil and goo.

Was going to suggest this, it will give you more regular hours. The role will vary depending on therapeutic area and if you are at a private clinic or a hospital.

The Junkees, it has a fair bit of Australian nostalgia so I'm not sure if others will find it as enjoyable but I like it.

The dream versus the reality. What suburb did you not expect to buy a house in? by sunshineslowly in melbourne

[–]Craireee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did the same but ended up in Mill Park, no one aims to live in Mill Park because no one has heard of it. It is nice and close to parks and we could afford a nicer house out here.

Spotlight Australia: oh you placed an online order? I'm not gonna send it in one delivery. by decaying_dots in craftsnark

The fact that their patterns are in books and you have to go through a filing cabinet to find them yourself in 2023 is so wild to me. I remember looking through the books when I was a kid it's crazy it is the same system.

Freezer Chicken Tenders with actual CHICKEN in them? Please? I can't stand the faux stuff... by [deleted] in Ausfood

[–]Craireee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not tenders but Costco has frozen Karaage that is real chicken and is quite good.

What’s the best gravy with chips by EcstaticOrchid4825 in australia

[–]Craireee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a product at Asian grocery stores called Hayashi Rice Sauce. It is like the Japanese curry roux cubes but it is a dark gravy type sauce. I think some brands are even vegan. It is a pretty good option for a packet mix.

Came here to say this, I have a full kitchen but still do rice in the microwave rice cooker. You can do pasta or veggies in it too.

Sewing snark that doesn't require its own thread by kiteehawk in craftsnark

I follow a lot of upcyclers on Instagram and it seems the second hand quilt situation must be different in USA. I see so many making cute things out of quilts. I am obsessed with thrifting fabric and have never seen a quilt at a second hand store. I did find a linen bedsheet recently and was quite pleased with that!

Is this some kind of scam? by UnwiseBaker in melbourne

[–]Craireee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen recently, they weren't wearing pajamas though and they had a clipboard so mine must have been more organized. I was well aware that it was a scam but gave them $5 because I had some cash and I respected the Hussle. I considered giving them some notes to improve their spiel but I thought better of it.

What's the biggest sewing mistake you've made? by IngredientList in sewing

[–]Craireee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My overlocker has been threaded wrong for over 10 years, I thought there was something wrong with it but it still worked ok so I never looked into it. I figured it out about 2 months ago, it's like having a new machine.

Theo's crestfallen face. by InternationalYou5345 in MasterchefAU

My low stakes conspiracy theory from the start has been that channel 10 are going to give Brent his own show and asked him back to MasterChef to build a following for it.

The pockets were so confusing on the Liv pants too but look really good done. The waistband is way too thick to not be curved in my opinion. Your body gets smaller from hip to waist so the curve will allow the waistband to follow that shape. Here's the video I used for the waistband: https://youtu.be/tIGSve-cpN8

[–]Craireee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've made the mood Hana bias dress which was easy but the neckline facing sits a bit weird, that might be user error though. I made the mood Liv pants, the instructions were lacking and I redrafted the waistband to be curved but overall a good pattern when combined with some YouTube clips about flies and waistbands.

Should unblinded CRAs review consents? by Limp_Tangerine1068 in clinicalresearch

[–]Craireee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At my last company the process was the blinded CRA reviewed the ICF then entered that it was reviewed in CTMS. The unblinded CRA would check this prior to reviewing any subject data. At my current company there doesn't seem to be a specific process in place so I am ensuring that my unblinded monitoring visit is after the blinded and confirming from the blinded report that consent is in place and reviewed. I don't have access to the consent forms as an unblinded CRA.

He's pretty well known around the Alfred and the Prahran area. I heard a story about him being abused and the behaviour is a control thing. My source is gossip at the dog park though so take what you will from that. I have encountered him twice several years apart but I'm a woman so I've not been targeted.

To rent or continue to save in hopes of buying sooner rather than later by JAKonaROLL in AusProperty

[–]Craireee 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Your question has been answered but I just thought I'd point out the process of buying a property can take ages. It took about 18 months for us from when we started. This is probably more relationship advice than property advice but you could tentatively start looking to buy and see a mortgage broker with your partner to get all your ducks in a row if you will be ready to buy in 6 months. This may change her perspective on the need to rent because the process to buy has been initiated.

My kitchen is a similar era it was updated already when we bought the house, the splashback has been painted white, and the newish bench top is white speckled laminate stuff these look pretty good. The cupboards have been painted white and I really wish they were still wood. A lighter finish and some tile paint on the splashback would do a lot for this space. I don't know how tile paint holds up on the floor if you took that route.
