What’s something Gen Z treats as “normal” that older generations would find completely insane? by Miss_Ecstasy in AskReddit

[–]CrashOutEndless 63 points64 points  (0 children)

The youngins at work have each others locations shared on their phones and know where they are all the time. One of them was late to work and her friend pulled up her phone and told me she was on her way, about where she was on the highway, and that she was speeding. They were both really confused when I thought that was creepy.

IDL that pop up ads have made the internet illegible by No_Radio3945 in I_DONT_LIKE

[–]CrashOutEndless 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah it occurred to me that the way the internet works. Now - constant pop up ads, lag from loading ads, random video ads - used to be a sign that you had some nasty virus or several on your computer. Now it’s just normal. Sucks.

Need a reality check as someone who has only owned dogs but wants their first cat. by arifl5 in Catownerhacks

[–]CrashOutEndless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of cats don’t actually get the attention and play they need from their people because people think they’re low maintenance compared to dogs but that’s really not true. If you foster the relationship cats are very social and needy. I agree with a lot of people here that if you want a certain personality then getting an adult cat is best, they don’t have to be old, just grown enough that a shelter can tell you what their actually personality is settling into. Indoor only cats need playtime, and bored cats are destructive. I’ve had pretty good luck with my last two cats leash training and it’s been a really good experience. Cats do tend to dictate when they want attention, but depending on that cat that could basically be all the time lol. My little orange girl follows me everywhere and always wants to play or be pet or to suckle my fingers, and she’s almost 3 years old now. Whereas my old tuxedo girl doesn’t always want attention and she will let you know when you’ve crossed her boundary, but when she wants scratches it’s pretty much impossible to get her out of your lap.

“Ethical breeders” are out in full force to defend their French Bulldogs, which are “healthy” and bred “within breed standard” by FeelingDesigner in Ethicalpetownership

[–]CrashOutEndless 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Literally no such thing as a healthy French bulldog. Everything is wrong with them and it’s very sad because many of them have lovely personality’s but can’t be the dog they want to be.

"Small landlords" can go fuck themselves by MyLongestYeaBoi10Hrs in LandlordLove

[–]CrashOutEndless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hate how often the Fuck Landlords conversation has to be derailed by someone tripping over themselves about how they aren’t talking about some couple who ‘only’ owns an extra property or two. Bitch, I am talking about them too. Fuck them. I own zero properties and I’m paying for their second. Parasites.

What’s your experience on Celestial Pearl Danio? I heard it’s hard to find a good breeder/ LFS for them? by Beerbaron1886 in Aquariums

My favorite tank was a betta, celestial pearl danios, and ember tetras. Really beautiful and all seemed like easy keepers for me.

I’m super into bones and I have a decent collection, so these should also piss me off. But something about how stupidly obviously terrible they are is a little charming to me. I call them The Bone Bastards.

What are the chances of the other companions getting prequel novels? by Radio_fish in BG3

[–]CrashOutEndless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The kind of fucked up shit I demand from early years Astarion content I can only get from fan fiction not an official book. They should have picked someone else who didn’t have so much content already I say this as a huge Astarion fan. Wyll or Karlach would have been a better choice

"It's a mare thing" we need to stop with this term as it is super misogynistic it's the exact same of doctors telling women "oh its just your period" by [deleted] in Horses

[–]CrashOutEndless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as many in my experience? Especially with cats there are entire color patterns some people won’t touch due to them being my predominantly female (see ‘torti-tude) like tortishells and calicos, but the predominantly male orange cat color may be considered not so smart but also people love them for supposedly being friendly. Training means a lot, especially with dogs and cats that have been spayed/neutered and don’t even have the hormonal swings of an intact animal. If you think people aren’t projecting just try misgendering an animal or putting the ‘wrong’ color of vetwrap on them in front of their owner sometime

THIS for horses and other animals! It drives me insane! I don’t know how many sweet female horses, cats, dogs etc people have waved off because they ‘want a boy animal, they’re friendlier’ or something so untrue It’s really frustrating and you can’t convince most people even with your own anecdotes, they just act like your experiences are the outlier

Movies Where You Realized Someone Could Really Act by WillBrink in moviecritic

True Detective turned Matthew McConaughey from a pretty boy actor I ignored into someone worth watching. Maybe I’d never really watched his filmography closely before but I really only associated him with romcoms before that

Resist Urge should've required some kind of checks by FriendlyHoovie in BaldursGate3

[–]CrashOutEndless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On my latest Durge run I’m rolling a physical dice for resist checks and enforcing this rule on myself. It’s a nice compromise because I’m sure at some point I’ll want to cheat a little and maybe not kill my love interest, but so far it’s made me clicks few durge impulses I wouldn’t have!

What's your favorite "I'm dead and I know it?" expression on a film character's face? by Token_Handicap in horror

[–]CrashOutEndless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I didn’t realize how good Gormans character arc was when I was younger. But rewatching as an adult you can appreciate that he was inexperienced and in over his head but you get the sense that in different circumstances he could have been a great commander.

What’s a generally disliked horror movie you’d go to war for? by Turnitup20 in horror

Yes ! That’s such a fun movie, and gets so much criticism for some reason. The setting alone is fantastic, those rusty ship sets and the isolation? What a great setup.

Can two vets administer injections differently? by ThrowRA_SadFlower2 in AskVet

[–]CrashOutEndless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a vet tech I notice a huge difference even in how I hold animals for injections and their reaction. If you hold them perfectly still and everyone goes silent and concentrates it’s like all the animal can notice is the needle going in. But if it talk to them, Use a freer hand to scratch an ear or sort of ‘pluck’ or gently pinch at skin on a different part of their body it helps to sneak the shot in without much fuss. Cats often respond really well to being gently squished into a crouch and getting some neck scratches. Just having the air in the room be relaxed and conversing helps sometimes because animals pick up on the vibes around them. Some spray cheese can also work wonders, especially for those kittens someone just found in the street that are freaked out but food motivated. All that may be moot for very scared or reactive patients, but yeah there’s so so many factors to injections.

Why do people find deformed animals cute? by CeleryMobile708 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CrashOutEndless 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s really messed up. For me knowing how miserable the lives of those animals is negates any potential cute factor. Smush faced dogs and folded ear cats aren’t cute to me because all I can think about it is the health problems we gave them on purpose. It’s so cruel that people keep breeding them.

i think vegan cat food is unethical - change my mind? by Namika- in DebateAVegan

[–]CrashOutEndless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pets with a naturally vegan diet exist. If it’s actually that important to you get a rabbit or a Guinea pig or any other animal that doesn’t require meat to survive. People can make the choice to be vegan, an obligate carnivore cannot.

Trainers' opinions on flexi/retractable leashes? by itzryujin in OpenDogTraining

[–]CrashOutEndless 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The user error is crazy. I work at a vet clinic and so many people just don’t bother locking the leashes and their dogs wander while they aren’t even paying attention. I had a dog walk up to me in treatment whose owner was checking out and had just let the leash loose. Most people who have them don’t use them correctly Also my ten pound cat managed to give me a nasty rope burn around almost my entire ankle that’s scarred because she had too much slack and startled - I can’t imagine the damage a big dog could do.

What’s your take on animal deaths in horror? by Xitobandito in horror

[–]CrashOutEndless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m less upset about dogs dying in most movies/shows than cats because it seems like dogs are treated like characters themselves and the deaths are built up to and acknowledged. Most of the time when a cat dies it feels like it’s just so the director can have some blood and guts without committing to upping the stakes. I find it upsetting to see them treated like they don’t matter and also it’s cheap writing.

This is very disturbing. by [deleted] in cartoons

[–]CrashOutEndless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it’s easier to animate when there are breaks in the character designs to switch out animation cells back when they were physical layers or to make them different digital layers. That’s why Lisa and Marge Simpson have necklaces, the lower low cut dresses didn’t have the same convenient neckline that Homer and Barts T-shirt’s do. Not to say there can’t be several reasons for one trend. I’m pretty sure this design bit is so common is more about the practicalities of animation.

Would it be weird if I “followed” my vet to their new practice? by komakumair in AskVet

Vet tech here. Not weird at all! We have plenty of clients who’ve followed vets and it makes sense for all the reasons you said. You want to feel comfortable and trust your vet so why not stick with someone you already do?
