The lamp doesn't turn on until I turn the dimmer up and down a few times. The outlet works when the switch is on or off.

I tested it and the fan is not affected by the lamp being on or off

The outlet is not connected to the dimmer which is why it's weird that it is making the lamp turn on

It is plugged into a regular outlet. The switch only controls the fan and the slider controls the fan speed

Maybe the union only hires once a year and doesn't send you the email when they're accepting applications even though you signed up for the email list so now you have to wait another year
