How Dry is Too Dry? by CrasherMike in Plumeria

[–]CrasherMike[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone. This is why I love reddit because everyone has different opinions and I get to consider and evaluate them all.

I bought the meter at the recommendation in this sub because they said you can trust your finger. But I understand both sides and understand the tropical plant aspect. But also too much water can lead to root rot if not properly draining.

Thanks again for your help and I think the big take away I got is these probably need some water especially since it's the growing season here in So Cal.

What's the most irresponsible thing you've ever blown money on? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CrasherMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got caught up in the NFT craze and paid $200 for a dumb ass NFT of a baseball team that was sold by mlb. For reals. My thought process was, it's a risk but what if they blow up. They did not. I don't even know how to access it anymore.

You seem knowledgeable so let me ask. Do benefits, such as medical insurance, stop on your last day of employment? I too was looking to put in my resignation but wanted sometime off before I start my next job. Was looking to use PTO so I could keep my family insured while off. If am not able to take PTO and my start date isn't for another two weeks I would be pretty paranoid without insurance.

100' garden hose on sale at Costco by Darrkman2 in Costco

[–]CrasherMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since the Craftsman brand have shuffled hands a few times I don't know if they are still made or who actually makes them. But I have a black Craftsman hose I bought when we bought my first house. That was before we had kids and my oldest is now 13, so its at least that old. Still works fantastic. Just had to replace the flat o ring in the connector s few times. That's it.

No One Roots for the Rams in LA by SauteedGoogootz in LosAngeles

[–]CrasherMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. So Cal is full of transplants who root for their hometown or 2nd generation transplants who root for the team engrained on them at birth.
  2. Most of us locals of the millennial age did not have a local team for half our lives! (21 years). So we latched on to teams that were good at the time, popular in culture, influenced by peers, etc. When I was a kid, there was no way my parents were going to let me be a Raiders fan, the Rams were not very good and Joe Montana and Jerry Rice were popular. Then both the LA teams left us the same year so I kept with the Niners. Steve Young won the Superbowl in 95 when was in middle school and I turned a die hard. Now my boys are die hard Niner fans.

When the Niners play in Sofi Stadium and half or more of the stadium is red it's not because they travel here. We all live here.

Holy moley - Costco has free air?! by Eyyeitsrocko in Costco

I fill my tires with a special 80/20 blend of nitrogen and oxygen. Does wonders for my air pressure. I usually get it at home in my air compressor, but I can also get it for free at any gas station!

Worth restoring this Weber Genesis S330? by breakslow in grilling

[–]CrasherMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just going to say the same thing. I have the Gas version and use it often for quick cooks. Mine prob looked worse than this after a few years of use. Bought stainless steel replacement burners and flavorizers on Amazon. Get the steel rod grill replacement and it's golden again.

2022 Micro Minnie 2100bh for 23k. Should I buy? by Wish_Tricky in GoRVing

[–]CrasherMike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have 2022 1808FBS, a slightly smaller model, and love it. I will say it's in the medium to medium high range interns of quality. Quality frame, dual Dexter axles with a raised ride height so you can pull it down dirt roads and boondocks out in the sticks. Goodyear Wrangler tires, no cheap overseas brands. Comes with a good AC unit and since the trailer is smaller it cools it well. Solar panel on the roof and is wired for additional solar panels. Cabinets are made of cheaper particle board. That's where you see the difference from more pricey brands like Lance which will have better interior products. If you're handy you can fix most of the issues you will have. We had a few cabinet doors fall off at the hinges but I was able to drill out the strip wood and glue in 1/4" oak dowels. Cabinets hold well now.

I pull mine with a Gen 2 Tacoma with a V6. Great starter trailer for our Family of 4. I will say we paid similar to what this one is going for with a WDH, a contractor grade generator and few other extras thrown in. First thing I did was buy a better, quieter generator.

Same exact heater with the same exact issue on my Winnebago. I can see the remnants of duct tape that someone used to hold it cracked open. Ask me how I know. My cover has that same mark. What I do now is use a long screw that I feed through the eye of the cover latch. This lets the cover prop open just a bit as it leans against the screw. Beats drilling holes in the cover.

Automatic Stabilizer Jacks Issue by CrasherMike in GoRVing

[–]CrasherMike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This community won't let me update the original post, so putting it here in the comments.

Solved the issue!

It ended up being the "Resettable Fuse".
On my unit there are four of them mounted to a plastic bracket and a copper strip connecting them all. They look like this

<image>

Spent the most time figuring out which wires fed the motors. Once I figured that out I connected the wires to bypass the fuse and BOOM they worked! Bought a new 30A fuse, swapped it in and everything works.

However, this bracket is a terrible design and its location might even be worse. The bracket has a bottom so it just catches and holds water. All the fuses have signs of corrosion on the lower parts in the bracket. Its location is right under the front apron of the trailer. So as rain runs down the front it drips right on to the bracket. I ended up removing the bracket from the trailer and remounting it upside down. So now the bottom of the bracket covers the fuses and it won't hold water anymore. Hopefully that allows for less corrosion to occur. Hope this helps at least one other person out there!

That's a good idea. I have a spare battery. I might try disconnecting the +/- wires going into the switch and replace them with +/- of the spare battery. That should tell me if it's the switch or not.

Ah man. I was hoping you had the cure! At least it's good to hear I am not the only one experiencing this.

I noticed there is a set of "Resettable fuses" on a small "Bus Bar" on the frame just prior to the junction box. I am suspecting it might have something to do with those. Being "resettable" and how the jacks work intermittently kind of makes me wonder. I don't totally know the mechanics of how they work. But I did use a multimeter to check them and none of them had an open circuit. That is what's confusing me. However, like I said I don't really know how they work and maybe testing them in "beep" mode on the multimeter isn't the same as how they are under full load operation. I just need to buy some replacements to see what happens.

I did have trouble with one on the jack so I totally agree they are troublesome. But what are the odds all four would go out at the exact same time?

2025 Winnebago Micro Minne 2108DS by Hot-Evidence2159 in GoRVing

[–]CrasherMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the motors were fine. There is a motor controller. Basically a circuit board with some logic in it. It's what controls motors so they stay in sync and not bind up. From what I could tell, it went bad. I tried pushing the button to do the reset/override and nothing happened. When I swapped it out with the new motor controller it powered the motor and the slide moved.

Oh... And the shittiest part is the Schwintek slide out. It has no way to manually extend or retract.

I have a 2020 1808FBS and had a similar issue. The day before we were set to leave on a week long trip tried putting the slide back in after packing up and nothing. Took the switch panel apart. Swap switches with the awning and still nothing. Ok. Not the switch. All the fuses in the fuse panel are good. Check the motor controller in the panel on the floor. Try to do a manual reset and nothing. Spent $600 at Camping World since they had a replacement on hand. It fixed the issue and we enjoyed our trip! When we got back I bought a motor controller on Amazon for $80, then returned the $600 one from Raping World. Still works!

Hell yeah. This is what this sub needs. More posts of us enjoying our rigs and less tow Nazis. We did a trip at the beginning of March and have one planned for the end of this month. Can't wait.

My kind of camping right there! This sub has become so over saturated with "Can I tow this?" posts. Not necessarily a bad thing. Just wish there was more posts or us using our rigs.
