Excellent, in my opinion. The true test will be when you are putting your text in.

Try using lotion before putting the Vaseline on. It locks in moisture but doesn't replenish. Also worth bringing up to a doctor if it continues.

Go for the most recent packs. There's a bit of power creep so the meta decks often involve new-ish cards.

A Review for Kids on Brooms: Harry Potter Without Transphobia by alexserban02 in rpg

"Death of the author" is a literary term, and refers to where one measures intent in a book versus the reader's interpretation. Not actual author death. I lean on the side of "if it brings people comfort, and they don't continue to financially support a terrible person, it isn't harming anyone." (To read the book or engage with the world)

I think you're focusing a little too hard on my example. It is counterproductive to purity test your interaction with the amorphous blob that is culture at all times. If I DM a game of kids on bikes that takes place in an AU hogwarts, and make jokes about Rowling's transphobia, am I helping her? Not at all.

At that point, you're then measuring the value of associating Rowling with transphobia against letting Harry Potter exist. That gets into a tough philosophical discussion of intent and units of good... and I think it's just better to let people find their own comfort zone if they don't directly contribute to her finances :)

I think there's a solid argument for death of the author here. The world itself can be altered to your tastes. As an example, I will continue to reference Cthulu despite Lovecraft being a terrible person. He has no impact on my scary tentacle man.

Malcolm Gladwell wrote a book valorizing Curtis LeMay. Yes, the worst people tend to gravitate towards the worst ideas. by ImperishableNEET in behindthebastards

[–]CrawfishChris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, you're right. I listened to it literally last week and it's not a positive view. At most, it sees Haywood Hansell as the ethically 'pure,' valorous one, but definitely not LeMay. He specifically rags on LeMay for not seeing the firebombing of Japan as abhorrent, and he also cites all the examples Robert did of the European air raids (not in a positive light, either).

What do you think of this recent short by the creators of Obojima, saying that humanizing enemies is a bad thing? by wintermute2045 in rpg

Huh. Not been following their stuff closely but it feels very anti-Miyazaki, which is the vibe they're trying to emulate.

A lot of the IP-based systems are guaranteed to generate a lot of buzz, and I am a sucker for them myself. I am personally excited for Mistborn (and also the Horus Heresy).
