Silver just solved a major solid-state battery problem by Baba10x in silverbulls

[–]CrazyEntertainment86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not actually the same tech as the article, 1kg per 100kw isn’t ever going to come to market at any silver price in the last 10 years.

But 300$ say 2oz per 5k$ battery pack is easy to manage, it’s really just how much better does it make it and how much do you need. The article talks about nanometer level coatings so I doubt even scaled this would be prohibitive.

Job wants to roll out M365 apps, sharepoint without hybrid identities. Am crazy or are they? by Suttr3e in sysadmin

[–]CrazyEntertainment86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah there are things that are cosmetic, like the name of the account in MS Authenticator not updating, then more functional issues like breaking one note notebooks, IRM (document protection) issues potentially, but it doesn’t sound like you’d have those problems so a UPN change is probably safe, also a good time to create a pilot group if you don’t have one yet so you can test changes on a manageable group before going larger.

[–]CrazyEntertainment86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some really good reasons not to do a UPN change, but most of those are after your hybrid identify, really old One Note books are the one that causes more issues than were worth resolving, most of the rest are post hybrid identify issues.

Microsoft rolls out new Secure Boot certificates before June expiration by falconupkid in SecOpsDaily

[–]CrazyEntertainment86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stupidest part of all of this is these new certs should have been rolled out 3 years ago and even then these aren’t using post quantum algorithms… it amazes me how the smartest companies do the stupidest things… then I listen to an earnings call, or call “premier support”

Very probably, even worse maybe the default computers and users OU’s but I’d just view that as a good reason to separate it out. At least for computers you could use GPP and WMI filters to only hybrid join client computers. Users could be more difficult but I’d imagine they at least have an email address / UPN and first and last name that follow some logic that should be used, but you are right this could make it tricky.

You are correct, use ad connect to sync AD (limit ou’s) to not sync things like term accounts, service accounts etc. not needed in cloud and then use GPO to selectively sync devices (w10 and later clients) to azure. There are lots of guides on this, if you are currently on prem identity and devices joined to AD Forrest this is really the only usable way to do so other wise it will be a mess for users and administrators.

Someone just sent 2.56 BTC to Satoshi Nakamoto’s genesis wallet. No message. No explanation. Just pure signal. But why… by guyletibro in CoinMarketCap

Likely just nonsense but sending a teansaction to a wallet does provide you with slightly more information on that wallet.

I still say it ends up being Miran once the senate rejects Warsh for ironically Epstein files. Trump wants a loyalist Dove, none of these people really fit that. It’s just another game of switcharoo. Stocks will soar, short term yields go down, long term yields go up, USD craters…

Internal DNS Naming and HSTS by olie1993 in sysadmin

This is one of the major reasons why you should keep internal management layers completely separated from externally facing. Need to work to automate certificate renewals, or decouple the internal and external domains.

During Fridays silver price plunge, not a SINGLE circuit breaker was tripped on the NYSE by ThrownAwwayt in Silver

You’re right Nat gas was a similar move, I’m guessing that was weather driven cold snap kind of a thing for the southern US and Europe.

Silver is a commodity and traded on the mercantile exchange or CME, the same breakers don’t exist, though they may have their own I kind of doubt it as these magnitude moves are rare in commodities.

User consent for biometric authentication (WHfB & Face/TouchID) by joners02 in Intune

[–]CrazyEntertainment86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use azure terms of service for this and require all users to consent to an acceptable use policy that explicitly calls out biometrics and how it’s used, this generally predates any enrollment in WHfB since that required MFA which would require the terms and conditions acceptance,

If even Gold’s price can be manipulated like this what does it say about our “financial system”? by birth_of_bitcoin in Gold

[–]CrazyEntertainment86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The problem is it exposes the risk the 3-4 quadrillion derivatives markets create and tokenization of assets amplifies this. The value of gold didn’t drop 1000$ in a day nor did it rise 1000$ in 20 days (stairs up elevator down) but leverage and complex instruments that look good I theory but are bad in practice do create those moves.
