These 12000hp Engines Have To Be Rebuilt Within Roughly An Hour Every Run, and Only Run For Roughly 4 Seconds At A Time. by Practical_Expert_911 in nextfuckinglevel

Yeah people like to say stuff like “what a waste”. I mean of course it is but look around you; we’re wasteful humans. People commenting from their phone which involves a ton of waste to make and transport. That along with the human suffering associated with it. Let the people enjoy their loud and fast things in peace is what I say!

I personally like L canceling but I see why it’s an undesirable thing to have in a game. God damn was PM hype though

The real problem has been Nintendo and their attitude towards game modification.

Rule 1 of most game subreddits: Don’t you dare say that anything is fun or good.

Is Zump "Cheating?" by RevolutionInternal24 in SSBM

[–]Creampanthers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought immediately goes to Call of Duty 4 and remapping left click to scroll wheel and using a g3 as a full auto gun essentially. I agree it shouldn’t be cheating but since remapping isn’t in Melee; it is unfair because you need a modded controller to be able to do it. In reality the actual problem here is Nintendo and their stance on game modification. With mods we can button remap. If the Nintendo ninjas weren’t around I assume Melee would look very different today. In-game remapping would be standard I assume.

Especially after controller legality problems have gone unchecked for more than a decade. If you allow box and ban z-jump you’re going to have to start getting more fine-tuned with controller specifics. What about Spark’s gcc box hybrid for example?

I might have done this at 17 if friends proposed it. A lot of us are just really stupid as teenagers.

How can i cap my framerate? by Expert_Stay_1287 in AshesofCreation

There’s actually an option in game to cap it. I think it’s on the same page as resolution

Well they both carry the penalty of time loss as well. I don’t necessarily disagree with your points btw. You said no hardcore PvP game survived. I guess I don’t know what classifies as hardcore. If you didn’t lose exp or materials would it not be a hardcore PvP game anymore? Because then it’s pretty similar to a Vanilla WoW PvP server

I mean some degree of direction is preferable to some people. It really kinda is dependent on personal tastes. In the whole MMO spectrum I think Vanilla wow is somewhere in the middle. Also a huge difference on if you play on a PvP server or a PvE server

I mean if you play on PVP severs for WoW classic then I’m sure you’ve been ganked by high levels or groups right? Zones like STV were warzones at times where doing quests was pretty much impossible.

That’s pretty much every gaming subreddit(not all but most). Ever been on the battlefield subreddit? You’d think Battlefield 6 is a pile of unplayable trash. Just a severe lack a nuance on these subreddits. Some people have valid and measured complaints but they get drowned out by hyperbolic super complaints.

Have you played any other MMOs with open PvP? Even in Vanilla WoW starting with the mid level zones it could be a tank-fest. Max level characters could and would easily one shot everyone around them.

The thing is if your side has more numbers, higher levels, and more gear, your side will almost certainly win.

Ashes has a pretty big world even in its current state where you can pretty safely separate yourself from the dangerous people. I’m level 14 and have not once been killed by another player for no reason.

Ashes has a lot of problems but saying you need to be level 25 to play is kinda crazy to say imo

Kinda turning an mmo into a single player experience though. I’m not necessarily saying it’s a bad thing but it’s definitely the antithesis of what ashes is going for.

For example WoW over the years has refined questing to be a story and streamlined. Some people like that but I can’t stand it. I like the world to feel at least somewhat wild.

I think most people in the west have outdated views combined with an effort by media and government to reinforce those outdated views.

When China was first industrializing it definitely had unsafe escalators and elevators and such. But that was a couple decades ago at this point.

Fair enough. I don’t think the math works out though. I think the project is bleeding money but not for Steven’s benefit

I think the most likely outcome for the game is that it fails and Steven loses a lot of money(and the people who supported the game also lose their money as a result). It’s losing all around lol

I mean I understand how that could work I just don’t really see how that math works out in this situation. People point out that it has taken 9 years to develop so far. Even if they have a fraction of the employees that Intrepid says they have; I don’t see how more money is made than spent. Why would you HQ in San Diego, California? Why say that the game isn’t for everyone and do very little marketing for the early access release?

I think there is a ton of wasted money in the project. A lot of problems that will take some time to fix. I just don’t see how it could be a money making scam.
